I have been listening to and loving this man’s music for a good 22 years or so at this point. I think that we, my family and I, played his Graceland CD until it was so scratched that we had to replace it simply from normal wear and tear (or we just didn’t take good care of it, because let’s be honest, CDs don’t get scratched when they’re carefully placed between the stereo and their CD sleeve now, do they?). I’ve professed my love for him before. But I didn’t go so far as to tell you that I used to actually pretend to be Paul Simon’s wife, on stage with him at a concert, singing along and dancing in my living room. That’s not a joke, and I was about six or so. I think I must’ve been an odd six-year old. It’s the first CD where I knew the words to every single song, and my love only grew when he came out with Rhythm of the Saints. Tell me you’ve heard Obvious Child.
So, maybe if you’re just dabbling in Paul Simon (though he’s so good, who dabbles?), these two are must-haves.
i have no idea why, but you can call me al puts me in the BEST mood ever. i mean i know it's a good song, but seriously when i hear it i instantly get super happy.
weird.
um, well, that's better than having the first-song-you-knew-the-words-to be reba mcintire's "here's your one chance, fancy, don't let me down".
my parents were probably so proud of my sisters and i….
…singing about prostitutes.
Now I really want to listen to that CD:) Thanks!

I'm assuming you didn't have a picture of Paul Simon when you were younger. Otherwise my guess is that the dream of you being his wife would have been short lived.
this is why we are friends.
ok so i'm gonna be honest…i didn't know who you were talking about when you said paul simon. i know, i know! i am so sorry! but when i heard "you can call me al" i was like, "oooo yea- i love this song!" so now i'm gonna listen to him the rest of then night & have a dance party. thanks.

p.s. i used to pretend i was celine dion when i was a kid. i would have make-believe concerts and would lip sync to her songs and make up little dances. ohhhh dear. i think we would have been good friends.
I grew up listening to Paul Simon too, especially those albums, reminds me of camping! Obvious Child is in my desert island top 10 without a doubt!
I am glad to know I was not the only 6 year old listening to this music! some of my friends now tease me for being a nerd or and old fart, but my parents listened to this music (paul simon, james taylor, moody blues, george winston, etc….) so it is what I grew up listening to and loving. Glad there's someone else my age whose the same!
cb, we are cut from the same mold! we listened to all of the above in my house! throw in a little cat stevens and neil diamond and call it good!
