I have been listening to and loving this man’s music for a good 22 years or so at this point. I think that we, my family and I, played his Graceland CD until it was so scratched that we had to replace it simply from normal wear and tear (or we just didn’t take good care of it, because let’s be honest, CDs don’t get scratched when they’re carefully placed between the stereo and their CD sleeve now, do they?). I’ve professed my love for him before. But I didn’t go so far as to tell you that I used to actually pretend to be Paul Simon’s wife, on stage with him at a concert, singing along and dancing in my living room. That’s not a joke, and I was about six or so. I think I must’ve been an odd six-year old. It’s the first CD where I knew the words to every single song, and my love only grew when he came out with Rhythm of the Saints. Tell me you’ve heard Obvious Child.
So, maybe if you’re just dabbling in Paul Simon (though he’s so good, who dabbles?), these two are must-haves.

I'm assuming you didn't have a picture of Paul Simon when you were younger. Otherwise my guess is that the dream of you being his wife would have been short lived.

I am glad to know I was not the only 6 year old listening to this music! some of my friends now tease me for being a nerd or and old fart, but my parents listened to this music (paul simon, james taylor, moody blues, george winston, etc….) so it is what I grew up listening to and loving. Glad there's someone else my age whose the same!
