I had big plans to go to San Francisco this week, leaving this morning in fact (I believe the plane I was to be on is currently in the air.). Coronavirus had other plans.
On one hand, boo. I was to spend some of the time with a few girls on my Beautycounter team at our annual conference — girls that worked their tails off to earn the trip (it’s here where my biggest disappointment lies; I was so excited for them! And to hang out with them, too.). But then I was adding time on and visiting with two friends from college who live there. One day, I was going to hike in the Redwoods! Boo, again. On the other hand, in the very unlikely scenario that all travel was halted, and I was stuck on the other side of the country from my kids, me losing my shit would be a very real possibility. (Again, I do believe that scenario is unlikely.) Ah, well. The things that are ultimately out of our control. Breathe deep, maybe with some Thieves diffusing in the air close by, and carry on. There are others suffering far worse because of this virus, and really, I have little to no right to complain.
I’ve gathered all of the questions on religion you guys asked last week. There’s some really good ones–death, heaven and afterlife for kids, what I was raised in vs. where I am now, confidence in the Bible content when it was created by man, family issues surrounding LGBTQ/hell/etc. and how to navigate those. I love these conversations. I hope to get Steve in on it, though neither of us have the answers, of course. None of us do. Nevertheless, I plan on opening the topic soon–perhaps here via a vlog? I like it better in conversation than written. Maybe this is where Steve and I start our podcast…
My latest playlist is up! It’s a good one. Report back if you listen!
Now I must go. For a few reasons: a shower being one of them. But also I sliced my pointer finger when cutting Parker’s hair last night, and now every time I tap a key, it hurts. Oh the perils of being a blogger who also cuts their son’s hair!
This outfit: black turtleneck (such a great basic one), jeans, a camel coat (love this so much), and a black bootie all from one of my favorites ever.

Sorry to have missed the call for religion queries!
Very excited to hear your feedback- and Steve’s! We’re an inter-denominational family by heritage, but neither my husband nor I believe that belonging to a “certain group” helps or hinders our journey to becoming good people. That’s what’s guiding our child-rearing. Our kids go to services with their respective grandparents whenever they please! And then we discuss. My six year old and I have very different opinions on Jesus and God and it’s awesome discussing with her.
Looking forward to hearing your input, always appreciate to hear the POV from other thoughtful dedicated parents.
