I’ve got so many bedrooms saved on Instagram, and the problem is… they are all so different! Light and airy! Modern! Light walls! Dark walls! Above is one of my favorites from this IG account. I love the walls, the curtains, the linen bedding. But I also love the dark moody walls in some. Do you guys struggle with having no clear direction when it comes to design?? Anyway, we’re finally going to start chipping away at our guest bedroom, and I’m not sure where to begin! Maybe by folding and putting away the laundry that has accumulated there…

I think this news about Harry and Meghan is pretty amazing. Just because you’re born into the Royal Family, to my mind, doesn’t mean your entire life needs to be dictated by it. (I do not understand the hatred hurled at Meghan either. Anyone care to enlighten me?)

I don’t understand the hate toward Meghan either.. it is really sad to see how many people tear her down.
Did you see the interview with Terri and Robert Irwin? She said that koalas need to be considered endangered now because of how many have died. It was heartbreaking to hear her talk about them and see Robert fighting tears. Their passion for wildlife is beautiful to see.

We LOVE our mattress from Tuft & Needle! Not entirely “non-toxic,” (they do use petroleum products) but a good, organic, budget-friendly option that we felt good about and have been really pleased with. Good luck with the search!
We were living in Europe the last couple years and actually LOVED our mattress from Ikea. It was firm yet conforming and only 350 euros! We moved back to our old mattress and it blows. I haven’t looked yet to see if we can get the same Ikea mattress here in the US, but I am hoping we can switch it out asap! Anyways, might be worth a trip to the Swedish box-land to lay on some beds!

Check out the store The Clean Bedroom. They have experts in different mattress brands and such a wealth of knowledge. We got ours about 8 years ago and absolutely LOVE it.
I think how it is generally understood, being born into a royal family does dictate your life–in good ways and difficult ways. The British family and public celebrated and supported Harry and Meghan through their engagement and wedding, establishment of their new working royal partnership, and the birth of their first child–all within two years time. Now, Harry rather quickly has become estranged from his brother and extended family, in ways similar to the relationships Meghan has had with her family and old friends. Read what Penny Junor, Harry’s biographer has written. And the interview with royal photographer, Arthur Edwards. Lots of red flags and worrying behavior. So sad for everyone involved.
In regards to Harry and Meghan, I think people bristle at the fact that when she married, she signed onto a specific duty as royal figure. Now it seems they want all the perks and fame of being a royal (the galas, etc) but none of the drudgery (the small town ribbon cuttings). So half the work but still the paycheck from Prince Charles as well as their house (recently renovated by public funds). I don’t think it’s hate so much as public criticism of public figures funded by the British people. And they are not cutting completely loose and going to live a quiet country life. Plus, by all reports, they went public before telling the Queen.
Buying an AWARA (all organic) mattress today. $200.00 discount now and they plant a tree for every mattress sold. 365 days to decide if we like it! Fingers crossed.
The British Public did support Megan and Harry in their engagement (for the most part) but the British Tabloids have been pretty horrible since then. People say that the Duchess of Cambridge also had a lot of “hatred” shown to her at the start of her relationship with William but the difference was William and Kate had time to get themselves sorted as they were still young. Kate was given dogs abuse for being lazy and not wanting to take on too much at the start and then when she fell pregnant it was horrible. However Megan I believe has had it even worse and gave up so much more to be with Harry. She was constantly compared to Kate both in looks, style, attitude, charities they took on etc etc (at least Kate couldn’t be compared to anyone) and Kate was happier to “toe the line” whereas I don’t think Megan and Harry are. William will be King one day but Harry will not so he needs to carve out his roll. The cracking thing is loads of the British Public and the British Press have been moaning for years about the Royal Family using our tax money and now that 2 of them want to live their own life and make their own money, we are moaning that they want to break away. They just cant win!! I didn’t write the following but I do think it sums up the situation beautifully; One day a woman gave up her lucrative career that she loved, worked hard for and excelled at as well as earning millions to be with the man that she loves.
She made the decision, which I am positive was extremely emotional, to pack up her entire life, kiss her loved ones good bye and moved to an entirely different country to be with the man she loves.
She said goodbye to her single mother who raised her on her own and life as she knew it to be with the man she loves.
She gave up any ounce of privacy she had once enjoyed and took on the role gracefully and without hesitation to be with the man she loves.
She is constantly scrutinised, bullied and vilified by the media and is the constant target of relentless racism. The tabloid headlines are vile and sickening to read but the people revel in that kind of hatred toward her but she still shows up, she still smiles for the cameras and she never waivers in her support for her husband. She endures to be with the man she loves.
She chose to carry the baby that both her and her husband wanted, suffering through morning sickness, extreme hormonal changes, aches and pains and all the added risks of pregnancy when under extreme pressure.
She was called too fat, too old and too pretentious for protectively holding her growing belly as she grew a human being inside of her, she knew she would no longer be in control of her own body all the while being called a liar who was faking her pregnancy. All to be with the man she loves.
She went through postpartum anxiety and NEARLY broke down in a public interview, she was not offered love and support from the public instead she was called a drama queen!
Accused of just being a great actor capable of crocodile tears yet, only after years of having her acting abilities scrutinised, but she continued to be the pillar of strength in the public eye and raising her baby boy, to be with the man she loves.
The world never bat an eyelid over everything she gave up. The entire world chewed her up, spat her out and then demanded more.
One day a man said he would not be bullied into playing a game that killed his beloved mum. He and his wife made the choice to put theirs and their childs mental health and well-being first.
That grown man ,who is very capable of making his own choices, decided to give up his career to be with the woman he loves.
And the entire world went mad… 🤦♀️🤷♀️

thank you for this!!! i think you hit the nail on the head when, at the end, you noted that diana was killed — in (large) part — by the press. that he and megan want to break away, after all that family has been through (and lost) at the hands of an over-interested public, is to me WELL WITHIN THEIR RIGHT and I wish them nothing but the best.
I agree with what Aileen said about Meghan. I, also, think it has some (or a lot) to do with race.
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if you’re right (and also, how sad that is).
