My parents were up for Easter and we had a lot of rain but when the sun did peek through, we headed straight for the beach and IT WAS GLORIOUS. Feeling that warm sand on bare feet again after a long winter is heaven. Hope you all are having a good spring so far!
Some weekend reading…
Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams open a free grocery store. This is cool.
Girl stumbles upon 3 million YEAR OLD Megalodon shark tooth in North Carolina. This would’ve blown Parker’s mind!
Parabo Press invited me to be a part of their Printmaker Profile and my interview is up! (Love them.)
What milk ducts actually look like. Mind-blowing.
I just signed up for a curbside composting service (I am over the top excited about this.), and I’m thinking about this for inside the house. Anyone have it and feel like it’s a good size (or too small)?
Taylor Swift’s been dropping clues about her new single for months. Watch it here.
These are a perfect summer jean.
New favorite song (Summer Sun). Nancy Meyers’ fans: doesn’t it sound like a song that would be playing in the background of one of her movies? Like Diane Keaton’s Hamptons house in Something’s Gotta Give during cocktail hour.
Have you taken your kids to see Missing Link? How was it?
Very cute top, and on sale too. I love the button detail.
If I go to Rome again one day (I WILL), this would be the perfect Airbnb. Steps from Piazza Navona, one of the best neighborhoods in the whole city!
Humans that are fixing this planet. I LOVE THIS. Speaking of, I’m adding a few things I love (or am thinking about!) to my storefront in the ‘for the planet’ section, if you want to check it out!
Have a good weekend and see you next week!

We compost and I did have a little bin on the counter for a few years- they’re nice! Plus, I think they’re cute- reminded me of Oscar 😂

We have that compost bin and it works well. In CA, we can compost food waste plus food soiled paper towels, compostable containers, etc. With those parameters plus the fact I tend to cook a lot, I find I empty our bin every day (more if I’ve food prepped for the week) but you get used to the rhythm of dumping the container in the outside bin really quickly. I love it. Enjoy!

Just an FYI that milk ducts thing is incorrect 🙂
Not sure where it originated but the flower interpretation isn’t real.

PS that Piazza Navona Airbnb looks AMAZING! And a good price!!

Sadly that’s not really what milk ducts look like https://www.sciencealert.com/don-t-freak-out-about-that-viral-milk-duct-image-it-s-not-actually-correct

We have that exact compost bin. We empty it about once a week, more in the summer. We’ve been happy with it.

My parents have signed up to that service too! Makes me very happy it’s now available in the area. 🙂 We used to have that compost bin and liked it – now we just use a basic plastic one that our city provides. It’s a good size – you wouldn’t want anything bigger because kitchen compost bins are best emptied more frequently 🙂 But even with the steel one and the carbon filters I find using compostable liners to be a huge help – really helps with mess and odor.

I have that compost bin in white on my counter. I like white because it doesn’t get smudgy looking on the outside! Works great for us. One thing I do is use a silicone lid on top instead of the nice lid that comes with it – allows for use of one hand to push up the lid and drop scraps in, which is a necessity in my kitchen! I looove the ritual of walking out in the fresh air to dump the compost each evening.

I love composting when they come pick it up. It’s my second year and twice a year, they give me compost back (which I give to my neighbor). I use this bin: it has a flip top which I think is easy to deal with when you’re cooking… and no need for a filter. Might not look as fancy though… I empty it once or twice a week depending on the week. we are a family of 4…

The city of PDX has been doing composting for a couple years now through our garbage services. I use some plastic food storage containers from ikea. I compost quite a bit since I eat mainly fresh foods, coffee grinds, egg shells, etc. I fill one up every other day. I dump it outside and then put them in the dishwasher. I think I have 4. I have a double sink so it just lives in one of the sinks when I’m not using it. It’s not fancy but like that I can wash it.
