Hello, hello, friends! Back with a Notes for the Road that I think is a pretty good one. Hope you all stay warm (at least you locals) this weekend… some cold temps coming. I’m inspired by you guys who responded to my last post talking about getting outside all winter long though. Wading into those waters, slowly, carefully, and with a lot of layers on.
Some weekend reading…
The above picture is not me, in case that wasn’t obvious, but I am loving the whole outfit from top to bottom. This teddy coat thing, a few months in, now has got me very interested. Here’s a few that I am really, really loving. This one from H&M ($80), this one from ASOS ($174), and this one from Nordstrom ($128).
I started this podcast yesterday and I’m already nearly finished. Fascinating.
For some extra moisture and health for my hair this winter, I’m finally trying this highly recommended product. Anyone use it? Love it? Tried it for the first time today and it smells so good. You can use it on damp or dry hair!
Steve and I are fully hooked on this TV show. (A little GOT with a little less over-the-top violence and minus the sci-fi aspect).
You know how sometimes I love scrolling Airbnb dreaming of a future trip? Well, sometimes that extends itself to VRBO or Homeaway too. Anyway, I think I found the perfect home (and, one could even argue, location–the lakes region of NH is truly an incredible part of the country!) and I could happily live there for the rest of my life. I don’t often let myself feel too much envy, but whomever owns this home… I am very jealous.
Speaking of getaways, how about the Hudson Valley? Here’s a gorgeous one. And my brief guide to the Hudson Valley!
Have you tried this skincare quiz yet?
J.Crew is having a 50% off sale items sale — this sweater! ($30/35!)
I made this recently, and ended up dropping it at a friend’s house. The boys couldn’t believe it. Practically the first time their Mom makes a homemade chocolate cake and I give it away! I promised Parker we’d make it again this weekend. It was easy and really good.
I’ve tried these for some extra greens in the winter months. The kids love them too–we’ve only tried the grape so far.
It’s the season of colds + ear infections. Last week before we left for Charleston, Parker was complaining of ear pain. I was hoping to get rid of it naturally, and fast before we got on a plane. I started working his feet pretty consistently (like at least 5-6 minutes 3x the day he began complaining) and by the next day, the pain was gone. My Mom is a licensed foot reflexologist and always did reflexology on us for our various aches and pains so it’s something I’m used to (though I usually have to look up where to do it as I’m not a professional). This video can help if you’re hoping for some relief for your own kids!
A really, really beautiful gift (though, I’d want to keep it for myself). Sandalwood and vanilla please.
Does anyone have one of these and do they actually fit the description on the website? Anti-aging? Like an eight hour beauty treatment every night? COME ON.

There is apparently an amazon dupe for the silk pillowcase that’s only $25 but still has amazing reviews: https://www.amazon.com/Spasilk-Facial-Beauty-Pillowcase-Standard/dp/B0027IS1O0?ie=UTF8&dpID=31jo449NblL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_
That is a brilliant idea to get some extra greens in!

You have a gift for finding the best Airbnb’s! I went back and looked at the Hudson Valley post and the one you stayed at is incredible, do you happen to still have the link to it?

I purchased silk pillow cases and was not that impressed! They were okay, but my main issue is they got really weird after I washed them (hand washed) and the texture was never the same. And I didn’t want pillow cases that you can’t wash.
bridget says
no way, me neither. good to know.

Ohh, the chocolate cake recipe looks so good.
I’ve never heard of reflexology as a word before, but things my mom have said seem like they would be in that category.
