01. afternoon tea. currently, this turmeric tea… though, at the time of this picture, i didn’t see the ‘natural flavors’ listed on it. i expected more of tazo! blah. nevertheless, as far as a turmeric tea goes (i’m not the biiiiiggest fan of turmeric; i tried golden milk once and it never really took.) it is really nice. heavier on the licorice, which i love. tastes similar to throat coat if you guys are familiar. the simple act of preparing a cup of tea in the afternoon makes me happy. (in a mug as pretty as this, even better)
02. this playlist. it’s so, so, lovely. it’s currently taken the place of my morning coffee playlist which is saying something. try it. you will love it.
03. this podcast. i was telling steve about it the other day and he looked at me like… “and why are you listening to this??!” he thinks i’m crazy for being interested in true crime type podcasts, as an already semi-anxious person. (i would argue that i’m only semi-anxious about the things that could actually happen; not the things that are most unlikely… and this podcast feels pretty unlikely.) it’s bizarre, fascinating, and yes, sad.
04. i brought home one of these blankets from target the other day to surprise parker with (for all of us, but he’s the one who looooves cozy things especially) and it will remain the best decision of 2019. i’m willing to make that statement even though it’s only january. steve and i love curling up under it when we watch the last kingdom too. (we’re almost to the end of season 3… i’ll be sad when it’s over. i love that uhtred!)
05. these cookies. i suggest you all make them! especially during this time of year when you want something sweet but might be eating less sugar to help out your immune system. they are SO good. made them last week with parker–they’re a one bowl recipe so they take virtually no time at all–and they were gone within 3 days. (tag me if you make them!)
what are you loving lately?

Nothing like peanut butter cookies – or any type of cookie, for that matter! Yum yum, especially in winter! 😀

Have you read Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood? That is one of my favorite books! I highly recommend!
Kathleen says
Carrie I will second that it is excellent. I just read all of his short stories, beautiful and heartbreaking! Children on their Birthdays and A Christmas Memory .. some of my favorite Capote short stories!
bridget says
i haven’t!! but thank you. always love a good book recommendation.

Hey, the cookies have 1.5 cups of honey. That’s sugar! I’m confused. Probably should clarify that. They are by no means a healthy cookie with that amount of sugar. There are tons of recipes with less sugar then that.
bridget says
i use 3/4 cup – just shared the recipe as it was shared with me. (with a note!) they’re also gluten free. and, if you make them as i do, loaded with organic peanut butter.
Samantha says
Kathleen not all sugars are equal. The natural sugar in fruit is not the same as the natural sugar in honey or maple syrup. The sugar in high fructose corn syrup is not the same as white sugar etc.
Refind sugar has no nutritional value and actually leeches nutrients from the body.
Maple syrup, honey, and fruit all have natural sugar along with vitamins, minerals, or other nutritional properties. Which when used in moderation makes then beneficial to the body.

Did you know that some tea bags are made with plastic? Allegedly, Tazo’s are not. Interesting thing to research, however. I tried to dump the contents of a tea bag into a tea ball, and it most of it ended up just floating around the mug.
bridget says
I didn’t! Gah. It’s never ending, the things to watch out for. My two favorite tea brands are Yogi and Traditional Medicinals, generally. They’re great, if you haven’t tried them!

My husband and I like the ginger turmeric tea bags from Trader Joe’s.
bridget says
Gotta try those!
Brooke says
In the middle of that podcast right now. My husband walked in yesterday and said, “what in the hell have you are you listening to?” So addictive and fascinating!
bridget says
Right?! It is beyond bizarre. That Dad… WTF, seriously.

How do you think the peanut butter cookie recipe would work if I halved it?
I am currently loving your ginger cookies with my afternoon tea, but something with less sugar would be good! (The ginger cookie recipe did not do well when I had to half it (only because I ran out of ingredients)
?
bridget says
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work! (Though, I’d make a full batch and freeze some if I were you… easy access for future cravings!)
