Today is Anders 4th birthday! I’ll be back next week with a little post for that sweet, special boy. For now we’re heading off to do fun things we’ve planned. Hope you have a great weekend.
Some weekend reading…
We got in a U2 YouTube hole a few days ago and Steve reminded me about this video with Eugene Peterson and Bono on the Psalms. It’s really beautiful. (Fun fact: Eugene Peterson taught Steve at Regent and was his small group leader too. Seems like such a beautiful man.)
Bought this Advent wreath and I just love it. Really enjoying daily readings with the kids this season.
Middle school misfortunes, then and now. This is a sobering read. Thoughts? (Thanks, Rachael!)
This is a fun newer Christmas album. Her voice is so good.
Catherine Newman, one of my absolute favorites, on raising teenage boys. Cracked me wide open like her words always do, like motherhood always does. Please read this too, if you haven’t. An absolute favorite.
This book is a perfect host/hostess gift for a Christmas party this year! I already bought it for a party we’re heading to soon.
My friend Sylvia shared this artist with me, and I think you all should know about him. The illustrations and his words are like a balm for a weary soul, so, all of us at some time or another.
A favorite meal lately. Like it was reeeeeal good. I think this one will be on the menu soon. I love lemon.
Yep, still talking about these coats.
See you next week!

I too was at Regent during the Eugene years. What an incredible gift to be taught by that man. Never will I take that for granted. Thankfully EP has left the world the legacy of his written words (and some good videos too! Those two together….)

hello! silent reader for a while. enjoy your posts, you articulate the overwhelming love i have for my almost 2 year old son much better than i ever can. plus as a first time mother with another on the way , your blog and love letters to your children are a reassuring roadmap of the wonders that lie ahead as the littles get bigger. i love charlie mackesy! am lucky enough to live in london and worship at holy trinity brompton where he occasionally speaks. he get trotted out for the alpha course introduction etc, getting people who “aren’t into church” into church. his prodigal son sculpture is at the entrance to the church, along the main road and every time i pass it i get a tear in my eye. how small and undeserving i am of my big God and His goodness and grace. merry christmas to you and yours xx

Oh my WORD… I cant believe Steve got to sit under THE EUGENE.. he is a hero in our town. Okay the world, but in our Church, we adore his teaching. Steve possesses that same genuine soul within him – I haven’t even met Steve but think that he is someone I would love to learn from. And your blog is just a constant source of life to me. Thank you for taking the time to put your words here. <3
