hey! hi! it’s me! at target! as i began writing this, i had to look back to see which number this was (13!!!) and it occurred to me i should maybe do a framed photo collage of the boys in target mirrors through the ages. i have plenty. anyhow, this was the first time i’ve been to target since… maybe the spring?! how is that possible? i don’t know, but I WAS GIDDY. (that’s not a joke.) and when i walked in (day after halloween) and saw that (some of) their christmas stuff was out, i actually didn’t feel like scrooge but was totally like ‘bring it.’ if they’d been pumping evergreen perfume through the air vents and blasting mariah carey’s ‘all i want for christmas is you’ that would’ve only sealed the deal for me. the deal being: target is the greatest place on earth. now let’s go! (p.s. fave new jacket–perfect fall/sort of cold but not totally frigid yet/dress up or down bomber jacket. i’d been searching… but am happy to have landed on this one! would also layer great under a ski shell. did not buy it at target, however. i’m a total sham.) first up… dollar spot! never mind that not everything is actually one dollar, but some of it is 3 times that, which is still only 3 dollars. like this cute little wreath! put one everywhere! on every door and every headboard. actually a pretty cute fake. for real. and these! i don’t have a dollhouse, nor do i have mini anything, nor am i really certain what one does with these little bottlebrush christmas wreaths but even so i am here for it. bought these. because why not.garland! wrap it around your neck! i don’t care what you do with it! it’s christmas at target! these teddy, sherpa, cozy coats (what are we calling them?) are all the rage lately and i’m here for this too. although this one is my fave lately (sorry target. i still love you most!). potential side effect if you wear them though: people petting you much of the day. cool waterproof-ish parkas. simple. classic. i see you, target. oui oui! a beret! quilted jackets! i’m especially liking the maroon, bottom row. like actually a lot. (target! i’m sorry it sounded like i was surprised by that. OF COURSE i love it.)i am really digging sweatshirts lately. lol. i’m actually laughing at myself because was there ever a time when i wasn’t digging them. but like the whole crewneck distressed i’m wearing a sweatshirt but also not thing? that feels a little more trendy recently and i’m into it. free people knock off! not cool target! or very, very cool, actually because you will have much more money in your pocket when you purchase these instead, and then be sure to swing over and spend it on the personal pan pizzas on your way out. i’m not into the peplum trend, but if you happen to be (which is perfectly ok) this one would be great for the holidays. wouldn’t have necessarily paired peplum with buffalo check (a little ‘me so fancy’ meets ‘let’s go hunting’) but hey. it works. maybe. a good throw on tee. tucked into jeans, with leggings for the gym. whatever. so cas. (caj? i’m going for casual shortened.) fun throwback shoes! cool athleisure. cool booties. cool biz-caj shoes. actually on second thought i don’t love them as much as i did initially.mostly took this for parker who is totally into his umbro zipup right now. have you guys seen the men’s goodfellow brand lineup yet? so many good things (and honestly if you sized down, could probably pass for women too! in fact my fave fleece ever is from the mens’ dept.). WELL DONE TARGET. I love this jacket. a little patagonia-ish.
and this one too. not sure why i took a pic of a pair of plain joggers but, i guess, they’re at target too were you to be in need. vintage fisher price! throwback to a simpler time!
lego advent calendars. are these worth it? i always consider it and have never actually bought one. (it’s just that $20-30ish feels steep for a one time use advent calendar!) let’s call this books i have heard a lot about and i guess i should read. i’m very sorry for the terrifying red half-face of trump in the pic. you didn’t deserve that. p.s. GO VOTE!
anders would like this house for christmas.thanksgiving stuff!!! i like this banner. dammit joanna. i love those beads. and that wreath. (note: they all said for indoor use only.) and those ones too. she’s like the oprah of home design. and sweet simple mugs with a nice message. i assume i took a pic of this candle because i liked the smell. if i recall, it was a subtle christmas scent. i have no idea if these shampoos/conditioners are any good but i will say the packaging gets an a+. anyone? best stuff ever. use it for everything. (seriously. dr bronners is amazing. and a super stand up company too.) also a plus on packaging. do not know how it smells. don’t care. looks great. all that matters. (jk jk jk) just liked this card. speaking of cards, target is killing it lately. collaborations with minted, and other brands. SNAIL MAIL IS NOT DEAD. pick up a card today and send it to someone you love! and look at you cat and jack. thought this was a super cute kid’s jacket. a little carhartt-ish.and a cute little backpack too.
i feel like i should start adding what my total was that day at the end of these. i think it was like $126 or so. so not terrible. what did i get? some christmas bottle brush trees. two pairs of pants for parker (both needing to be returned… long boy but so lean. swimming inside the waists!). nailpolish. a glass pitcher from joanna gaines line. a scary halloween hangup evil pumpkin thing (50% off!) and um i actually cannot recall what else. onwards and upwards!

I’m always so intrigued by supermarkets and grocery stores in the US! Going to Costco is actually on my bucket list, lol! 😛 The Lego advent calendars look awesome, though. I wish we had varieties like these where I live! 🙂

Hi! I’m new to Dr. Bronner’s soap after having a baby this April and hearing it’s a great multi-use, natural soap – especially now that I’m paying a bit better attention to the use of chemicals in our home. Would love to hear more about how you use it sometime!
bridget says
oh all sorts of home cleaning! i’ve made my own hand soap with it too! https://www.instagram.com/p/BfyJCpplyR-/
p.s. the company is so stellar. check this out – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d03Jm8xv4sg

I don’t think the advent calendar has to be one-time use – can’t you take it apart, store it, and build it again next year? I don’t own one so this might be totally wrong. But we are always saying, “this is the fun of legos! You can always rebuild it!” to our children 🙂
bridget says
i think once you open the little perforations, it wouldn’t be as satisfying to do it again! (plus… keeping and replacing the little lego figures in each window seems like a feat of strength!)

I bought the block advent calendar and my children loved it for YEARS. Best buy ever.
Carri says
I agree. Totally worth it! Both of my sons get these every year. They do not put them back in the box, however they do create and re-create scenes with them!

You haven’t done a Target post in so long and it was just what I (didn’t know I) needed today — so thank you. And f-ing Joanna Gaines, is there anything she does that isn’t amazing? (The answer is obviously no.)
Breckan Holst says
Long and lean…my son too…we only buy his pants at H&M…perfect for that body type!!!
bridget says

The Kristin Ess Hair Water is fantastic. It smells great and helps you get second, third, (dare i admit it) fourth days out of your hair. Also, the scented spray is good! I like more masculine smells and I love several of their scents. They last forever too.
bridget says
Hair water?! I am very intrigued.
Quincy Mason says

This is not really on track with this blog post, but I just finished reading Tribe by Sebastian Junger and it has given me so much to think about. Especially waking up to the news of another mass shooting today – so very sad. Thank you for recommending this book.
