our annual apple picking trip. one of those things i’ve got to check off the list to feel like the season is complete. we went on a sunday, unusual for us as we’ve always had such a more flexible schedule with parker doing half days last year and steve often having a day or two to work from home. but now we’re limited to the weekends, like the rest of the world (ho hum), so it was really crowded. even with a pats game on, it didn’t keep the crowds away!i just love this picture of parker. anders is a ham.the best apples are at the top. we went to our favorite spot where we go for nearly all of our fruit-picking, and took the tractor up the hill to where the apple trees were. the tractor ride alone is always so exciting to a little kid. the simple things. i never tire of doing these traditions with them. he’s got the best hair right now for quick shutter speed shots while he’s running. its got a mind of its own! one of the tractor drivers played a great harmonica. what a perfect instrument, so handy to be good at, as you can pull it out almost whenever–as a tractor driver, around a campfire–so small and unassuming and suddenly this great sound comes out. cider hill has the best cider donuts, mark my words. last two standing. they didn’t last long.they also have a plethora of the fun, specialty pumpkins. steve doesn’t get the specialty pumpkin craze. i don’t get how he doesn’t get it. parker usually gets the silly pictures of me because he just keeps snapping, so i eventually start doing something ridiculous. they had a blast running around this playing tag with other kids. these pictures get more absurd every year.nailed it.
{last year at cider hill}

I feel like one of the best activities to mark the beginning of fall is apple picking! Just wish I could do it here in Hong Kong. It seems like such a fun experience. 🙂

Wondering about your thoughts on age gaps with children. Are your boys 3 years apart? Did you find that was a good amount of time, too short, too long, etc and why? Thanks!’
bridget says
they are just over 3 years apart and honestly i love it. i am sure i could find positives and negatives to a little more or a little less age gap, but, one of the biggest positives, i had a good amount of time with a teeny parker which is priceless to me, and they play really nicely together now (not all the time). plus, when they’re older, it’s nothing (my sister is one of my bff and she’s 4 years older).
