Living with this kid is like living with a crazy, hilarious, unbelievably cute little friend. He’s kind of insane but also so much fun. Can’t wait to take a break from school this summer and have all my people under one roof. Happy weekend!
Some weekend reading…
Summer is upon us, so this is an important read for anyone who will be with children. (This is so true: “When two adults are present, each is less attentive than if there is only one, so it can easily happen that someone shifts their attention for a moment, trusting that the other adult’s got it, when no one is clear on their responsibility.”) These stories make me so, so sad.
One day in Biarritz, France. These pictures are stunning.
My favorite playlist right now.
Kind of a perfect Father’s Day gift for virtually any man.
I liked reading this piece on Anthony Bourdain. Admittedly, I’ve never really watched his show, but now I think I’d like to. I was inspired by many of the quotes that I saw on the web after his death. (Some friends of mine were big fans of him, so I got them this book that he said is “the benchmark for great food writing.”)
Another super dreamy firepit area!
I don’t really wear deodorant on a daily basis, but still need some when I work out. I just ordered this and I’m excited to try it. (P.S. they don’t charge any shipping, which I really love)
Today, let’s go to this amazing space on the Duoro River in Portugal (Portugal is high on my list right now!).
Nisolo is having a Father’s Day sale! They are some of the best shoes ever.
My sister’s made this a few times and says it is amazing. (At which point I promptly shared the best brownies ever and said they’re even better. #sisters) Also I think I need to make these.
The beauty product that I have consistently loved, for at least three years now. (And yet, I’m still on the same bottle.)
Best cereals in order. I think Wheaties should’ve made the list, but I’m glad Life did.
This time last year. Time to go strawberry picking again!
Great romper. Love that neckline.
See you next week!

I love that firepit area! Really wish I didn’t live in an apartment sometimes. It looks so cosy and fun.

I also don’t wear deodorant on a regular basis but I NEVER wear it before I work out because…aren’t you supposed to sweat when you work out? And then you take a shower after? I am mildly concerned about the stuff in deodorant so I wear about every other day and in settings (ie. work) where I don’t want to sweat. I guess I’m saying I recommend you save the chemicals for when you really need them!!

This is free of all the crap that’s normally in deodorants (aluminum being a big one!) but I’m thinking would just keep you from smelling bad but not from sweating necessarily. we’ll see!

I just tried yet another natural deodorant and it didn’t do the trick…also weird consistency. So I am going to try Native! Thanks for the tip. Which scent though?? They all sounds pretty amazing.

That article on swimming was so hard to read but so necessary to read! I have been using this https://shop.schmidtsnaturals.com/collections/deodorant for a while now and looove it!! I have tried Bergamot Lime, Lavender Sage and coconut pineapple and loved them all!

Thank you for helping to raise awareness about the truth behind drownings. Such a sad awful reality of summer. I’m a pediatrician and just wanted to add that in addition to having one person keep a close eye on the children 24/7 while near any body of water (kids can drown in as little as an inch of liquid/ think babies in a bathtub) parents with pools in their homes should have a locked pool fence installed. Studies show this is one of the few ways to reduce drowning rates. Enjoy your summer and be safe 🙂

Such a sad article regarding drowning but so true I often find myself turning my back maybe for a minute shuffling through my bag looking for my phone to take a picture or if someone comes through that I haven’t seen and we have a quick chat ( we have a community pool in our subdivision where I live). We had an incident last summer or a little boy took off his flotation device to use the bathroom and his parents didn’t see but after he was done he darted out of the bathroom getting about his rotation device and jump right in the pool and save straight to the bottom. Luckily an adult who had just entered the swimming area saw the whole thing happen and jumped right in and pulled him from the bottom of the pool to administer CPR and what seems like a matter of seconds he was okay. It’s just so crazy how it only takes an instant! And so true I don’t know why we expect screaming and splashing around when usually they just sink straight to the bottom. Anyways thank you for posting this article a sad but true reminder.

Oops sorry for the misspelling I guess my phone was changing words and I didn’t realize it?

Gosh. How do you not normally wear deodorant? Is that something you’ve never done, or just something you switched to as you’ve explored natural health more?
bridget says
I’ve never really worn it! i just don’t sweat a lot, i think!

Native actually works really, really well (even on my very sweaty husband!). I’ve tried the cucumber scent and the cotton & lily and they both smell amazing.
