We have a busy weekend ahead. Mulch delivery and backyard work and pulled pork-making and graduation-celebrating. Plus, all sorts of things in between. William is officially done HS! I’ll be back with a clearer head next week (hopefully).
Some weekend reading…
The 7 best frozen summer desserts. I was always a huge fan of the Good Humor strawberry shortcake bar. In fact, now I want one.
The new “it” plant (warning: mildly poisonous; my kids don’t mess with my plants so it’s a possibility here!). Such a cool shape.
Next up, let’s go to Colombia! This incredible beachy property near Cartagena is so dreamy. That hammock! The beachfront dining table!
We’re hosting a graduation party this weekend for William, and this bruschetta recipe looks amazing.
Steve just watched the houseboat episode of Fixer Upper and declared, “I could definitely live in a houseboat.” (This isn’t new.) How incredible is this one?! Chip and Jo really worked their magic on it. Those windows!
Best books of 2018. An aside: one of my favorites, if you’re needing some summer reading.
I am so excited about this new product. I love a good illuminator. Past favorites: this one from Benefit and Haloscope from Glossier.
Easy detoxing at home. I was surprised to see the Neti pot in this roundup. And I just recently got a dry brush but haven’t tried it yet!
Great easy throw on tee (on sale).
How cool is this backyard playset?
I really, really want to make these noodle bowls.
Have you guys been following the tragic stories coming out about children being torn from their parents when trying to cross the border? If not, you can begin to catch up here, and also there’s an opportunity to give money to have legal aid to get these children back to their parents. I simply cannot imagine how difficult this is.
I love these self-improvement challenges by Cassandra. Love especially numbers 7 and 11.
I really want this swing in my life forever.
Have a good weekend!

I’ve gotten some lovely earrings off Etsy before that I found through your blog so I immediately clicked on the earring link here and… I was already looking at those exact same earrings. Great minds think alike! 🙂

Oh man, I couldn’t disagree more on the book recommendation! I started Kite Runner as part of a book club years ago, and couldn’t finish it. It hurt my heart so much I couldn’t stand it. Oddly, the part that bothered me the most wasn’t the poor child being abused by other boys, it was what the rich boy did in response to it. That’s when I put it down. I don’t want to be too specific so as not to spoil it for other people, but that just killed me. Same way I felt when the butcher’s son was killed on Game of Thrones. Turned it off then and never watched again. Considering the success of this book and Game of Throne I must be weird, but I don’t like to watch or read things that make me that upset–it loses all entertainment value for me!

Now I feel like I need to reread it!! It was years ago (but was admittedly a favorite at the time; for various reasons, but I love books based in the Middle East.). As well as his other one (Thousand Splendid Suns).
I am so curious now, especially as you’ve connected it w/ the butcher’s boy being killed in GOT… (I, too, was so upset by that death. Just one of the many things that fueled an intense dislike for Joffrey. But I am still watching GOT!)
