I’m in New Jersey for the week! Annual beach vacation with all the cousins. Parker, especially, looks forward to this all year long. Tonight as I was putting him to bed he told me, “I wish everyone I loved lived in the same house.” Me too, buddy. We’re looking forward to a week of NJ beaches (they’re incredible!) and a fair amount of Wawa hoagies… woohoo!
Some weekend reading…
This is the loveliest little cross-body bag.
Best movies with a twist (just watched Primal Fear again last night; sooo good).
Let’s go to the Hudson Valley. This place is absolutely gorgeous (I had it bookmarked when we went last winter!). And Hudson Valley is so fun. Go, go!
Parker’s request for his birthday. I’m not convinced (he is!). Anyone use these? Or have any other suggestions for the perfect gift for a 7 year old?!
“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” -Nelson Mandela. Here’s a great run down of the immigration crisis happening right now.
I’m a skeptic when it comes to beauty tools, but when my friend Tisse told me about this thing she’s been using and liking, I bought it (inexpensive enough to give it a try). Here’s a tutorial to check out more. I’m going to try it and report back.
Love this sweatshirt.
An app to cure us of our smartphone addictions.
This crunchy Asian salad looks so good. A must make this summer.
See you next week!

We just bought a bunch of them and love them! Though, I’d recommend these and they’re on a slickdeal right now. https://slickdeals.net/f/11694571-4-pack-dynasty-toys-laser-tag-set-w-carrying-case-24-40-free-shipping

About the laser tag toy, I got my five year old some for Christmas (what was I thinking?!) and they are so god-awful loud that they became restricted as a. Outside you only. I completely get the appeal but suggest reading LOTS of reviews first. Nerf guns have been very popular here and much quieter! There are some cool archery toys out there that could be fun. Need makes a couple of versions. Good luck and keep us posted!

Laser tag was a big request last year for Christmas from my 11 year old and I couldn’t justify the price. BUT 2 weeks ago my son wanted to pick something out at Walmart with his own money and he found the Laser X double set (for 2 players) for less than $30. I thought he waited patiently and it was in his price range so sure, why not. And honestly it’s so fun, especially at night (and not a video game LOL)! I wish we got the 4 player so we could all play, but it was $100 and not in my budget. It works indoors and outdoors too for rainy day play and we just rotate whoever wants to play 🙂 I don’t feel it’s an inappropriate toy for a 7 year old. No different than a light saber fight IMO and those can get pretty serious in my home LOL.

oh we can definitely have a wicked light saber fight / army men battle / you name it. thanks for the advice!

My son has a pair of the Nerf Laser Tag guns—they have been a long time favorite toy in our house. I wish we had bought the set before we had bought regular Nerf guns and 100’s of the foam arrows that are now all over the house!
