Memorial Day weekend! What are you guys doing? I was pushing for a Saturday hike, but Steve’s being reasonable (boring) and saying we need to stay home to do yard work. He’s probably right. We need to plant the arbor vitae! Any tips? Then we’re going to a low-country boil party with friends! Happy weekend. {picture of Anders very seriously reading yesterday morning. The things I get to witness as their Mom. Too much!}
Some weekend reading…
Best glamping spots on Airbnb. I love the Moab one.
I’ve heard from a few sources now that this gluten-free pasta actually, for real, seriously tastes super similar to the real stuff. Getting some this week to test out this theory. We eat so little pasta at this point, but I miss it a giant plate of spaghetti and meatballs, so I’d be psyched if it really does taste good.
With so many multi-step routines out there, I needed a refresher on order of application. This breaks it down nicely. And note: oils can penetrate moisturizer, but not vica versa. So, oils go last! Another easy way to remember: most water content to least water content.
Which Netflix original movie should you watch?
Rules Meghan has to follow now that she’s a royal. Number 10?! Weird. Also, I personally loved both of her dresses (never found a classic boatneck that I did not love) but her reception dress might be one of the my favorites on a celebrity ever.
I love this breakdown of different NH hikes. Arethusa Falls is at the top of my list for this summer! I think we need a good backpack for Anders though. Any recommendations?
Love this caddy for outdoor summer parties.
This week we are heading to Willow, NY for THIS INCREDIBLE TREE HOUSE. Steve! Let’s go! Like now! This place is truly perfection. I think I could live there forever with a great playlist, a spicy candle, and a stack of books.
Tree hotel in Sweden. What a cool thing!
You know I talk a lot about the cleansing balm. It’s one of my holy grail items and one you guys love most based on your reviews. It’s part of a promo right now and Beautycounter rarely does them–free travel sized balm with any order over $125 through Monday (the travel balm itself is almost $50). It’s probably about six months’ worth. More about it here. Great for summer trips, summer burns, removing makeup, nourishing skin, and more. You can read more about how I use it here.
See you next week!

I love the $6 present idea, and the tree hotel in Sweden looks lovely! I want to stay there one day! 🙂

Thanks for sharing the NH hiking guide. Arethusa Falls is a stunning hike! Also, with kids, West Rattlesnake is totally doable. I took Hollis on that hike before 2 years old. It has the most gorgeous views of Squam Lake! and its only 15 minutes off of I93. A stop of the Squam Lakes Science Center on the way home is also well worth it.

We use the osprey poco plus for our kiddo. We even backpacked 3 nights into the Grand Canyon with it when he was 8 mo. We still use it now and he’s 2.5 years and almost 30lbs.

Have you heard of Jovial gluten free pasta? It’s our family’s favorite!

My son uses the Deuter Schmusebar backpack for forest preschool. It has a chest strap which keeps it from falling off his shoulders when they hike. I’ll try to post an amazon link, but I Think we ended up getting ours at Sierra Trading Post for just a little cheaper.

My husband had to eat gluten free for several years and we loved that brand of pasta! Definitely recommend!

We usually eat wholemeal pasta, but I recently tried pulse pasta (peas, lentils, chickpeas and berlotti beans) and my BF didn’t even notice the difference! It’s gluten free, has heaps of protein and fibre and less carbs. If you can find it in the US it’s worth a try 😉

So funny- I was going to recommend the Jovial brand of GF pastas too, but I see a few others did as well! Guess we all love it!
