Our friends from Italy are visiting this weekend! I’m so excited to see them (but our weather is not getting in line; it’s been gorgeous lately, and now tomorrow is calling for cold weather and rain! Hoping by some miracle it’s beautiful.). We may have an inaugural fire in our new fire pit with lots of rosé. That will keep us warm, right?!
Some weekend reading…
Women fighting poaching. This was really cool.
Let’s go to Bali this week. Finding a place in Bali was no easy task as there are so many incredible ones. Lush jungle oases, infinity pools, seaside huts, bamboo eco treehouse lodges. I’m ready to go there right now. (Side note: just looked at the air-time. 12+ hours to Dubai and then 9+ to Ngurah Rai. It’s a commitment. So we’ll just stay longer once we get there!)
We made plastic. Now we are drowning in it. This was a sad read, though not surprising. We have to do better. Post to come rounding up all the info from IG after I watched Plastic Ocean, by the way!
The podcasts Goop is listening to.
Our friends visiting is giving me super nostalgia so here’s a throwback video I watched this morning.
My favorite Instagram account right now (particularly the stories. Her trip through Morocco (by herself in her VW bus) was amazing).
I loved this post on saving a bad week. A normal night, repackaged, really.
Southwest road trip of a lifetime. I love how this even includes your food stops like enchiladas at Jerry’s. There is so much information here!
I may make a giant batch of this tortilla soup this weekend. It seems the right thing to do with cool rain in the forecast, even if I am in denial about it.
This Arielle Vey photo is so beautiful (above photo!).
Best kid short ever. Perfect length, thickness, and comfort. I will be sad when the boys finally grow out of their available sizes.
Positive energy and affirmations, even for plants.
My latest cookbook. I looked through the index and couldn’t help myself. It all looked so good. More to come, assuming I like it (I think I will!). Jo doesn’t usually disappoint.
See you next week!

The reality of plastic is saddening. I’ve been reading about it a lot lately.

Hey – unconnected to this post, but thanks for introducing me to Bill Peet! I’d heard you recommend his books a number of times but my local (Australian) library didn’t carry him at all, and I’ve been hit and miss with classic authors recommended by people in the U.S. as some of them just don’t resonate across cultural divides, so I was reluctant to just purchase some.
I finally discovered a vintage stack of them (10+) at my local university library. They’re all published in the 70s and held together with duct tape — a good sign. My kids love them! I won’t hesitate to purchase a few of our own now. Thanks for the introduction to a new friend.

Saw soooo many little rings like this in Paris last week! So pretty! I ended up with a moonstone ring tho 🙂 Tell me what you think of Jo’s Book! Tell me! Made another recipe from it last Sunday ( Shepard’s Pie) and it was also amazing! I made the Lemon buttermilk bundt cake for Mother’s Day and added blueberries to it, my Mother in law said it is her new favorite cake!
