It’s late May and it feels like things are just! picking! up! speed! We’re barreling towards the finish, our hair is not yet on fire. Banquets and senior nights and meetings and party planning and prom and then the normal parenting and grocery shopping and laundry and you get it. William graduates from high school this weekend, and I’ve already caught one quick glimpse of him in his cap and gown as he scurried out towards graduation rehearsal and it was emotional. A whole morning of it, complete with the graduation music? Goner. We’ll have family coming into town from a few different places, some friends, and lots of food to celebrate our graduate.
A slow down, step back was necessary, is necessary. Meeting the needs around the home, getting enough sleep, and a few workouts in, though the blog gets a little dusty. I went with the little ones and William (once a little one! Now he’s huge.) to the beach the other day. The day was hot and begged for it. As we neared it there was a cooler breeze coming off the ocean and I was regretting not bringing a sweatshirt, but once on the sand, it was baking again. I laid down on my stomach and William dug a hole with Parker and Anders and I remembered just how glorious it is to lay on your stomach on the beach on a hot day. Tip top shelf glorious. The boys and I played in the water, jumping over the foamy waves rolling in, and laughing. At one point the pull of the wave back towards the water threatened to knock Anders over backwards as he walked away from the water (not even ankle deep, mind you) and I helped right his body just in the nick of time. “You saved me!” he exclaimed. So ebullient and full of praise at that age. You want to feel good about yourself? Hang out with an adoring three year old.
Hope life isn’t feeling too crazy in your neck of the woods. If it is, a bike ride! A glass of wine and a calming playlist! Journaling! I’m incorporating all the slow things these days.

It’s fine to take a break from blogging every now and then – family time is definitely the most important! 🙂 It’s nice to know you’ve been spending so much time with your family! ❤️❤️

Graduating?!?!?! I feel like that’s not possible! It feels like I started reading your blog yesterday and he was just a young boy ( it was right before you got pregnant with Parker). How emotional another one leaving the flock 🙁 or is he going to be staying close by? So glad your being able to marinate in some family time!

He is not going too far! But even so, such a huge step. Big reminder about the passing of time. We’ll miss him (though we will see him often!).
