An Easter Sunday with some sun is about all I ask for. As you know (seriously, on behalf of all of us in our winter-half-the-year climates, my apologies. I know that you know this has been a long winter and an absent-so-far spring. Sorry we’re talking about it… ad nauseum.) we’ve been wearing some version of a parka, in varying degrees of warmth, for what feels like an eternity. I just wanted some sun on Easter. And sun we got. An Easter gift, indeed. We also apparently no longer have little ones who just smile sweetly for the camera but instead flex their muscles and wear very much fake arm braces. It’s a moment in time, and I’ll giggle as I show them one day. This was the first Easter I didn’t bother waking the older kids for baskets. It seemed, for the first time, that it just wasn’t necessary to wake them at 7 am for some chocolates and such. I think they were grateful. Also, here I am, finally recapping Easter which was a few weeks ago. That should be telling about my last couple weeks–non stop. Too busy. I’m ready for them to be less busy. Anders wasted no time at all tearing into his chocolate. His sweet tooth–particularly for chocolate–is very real. Those little bunny-topped jars were from Target one year, and I’m still so pleased I got them every time I open up our Easter bin. I filled them with little Lindt chocolates or jellybeans this year.My wisest decision this Easter? Making a strata the night before. It made the next morning so much smoother and with less clean up. If there’s one thing I take away from this Easter it is this. Another good decision? Asking a passerby to take a picture of us with my phone. I never do this, and as a result, we have so few family pictures. Dumb. Next time, I will be sure to keep my eyes open. Even so, love these people.
Easter eggs! Pictures of them looking for eggs feel like such a moment in time. I should have an album just labeled ‘egg hunt pictures through the years.’ We are definitely going through a flex-for-the-camera phase. Parker just saw this picture as it scrolled past and said, “I’m like standing so cool.” Dinner was a pot roast, as always, and cheesy potato gratin casserole, and a green salad (not pictured). It was delicious. We had a student friend of Steve’s join us for Easter as he’s from South Africa and that’s a long commute for a short college break. The older boys came home too. Conversation, food, family, white wine, and sun. Can’t ask for much more.
