I’m suddenly very impatient with the colder weather we’re experiencing this March. When Mother Nature deals you a 70+ degree day in late February, late 30’s in early March is especially unwelcome. Shame on me to chafe against the weather this way, though. She pays no mind to what my opinion of her is. Meanwhile, I guess a winter storm may be on its way?
Anders is a naughty little thing. That second picture screams it. At the same time, he’s cuddly, cute, and I can’t actually put into words all the things he does daily that make my heart scream with adoration. It’s like they’re so totally ordinary but also so totally extraordinary to his doting mother. Like his inflection, which is definitely, hands-down, one of my favorite things about him right now. His voice goes so high up and so low (for him) in one sentence, and he also tries to get it all out without taking a breath and then has to take a big one as soon as he gets the last word out. I have caught some this on video, and I’ve also written about it in a journal to him, but I know it’s all shallow compared to witnessing it in person which I’m lucky to be able to do every day. He plays independently quite nicely, which allows me the time to get some work done every morning, but sometimes I think I take advantage of this because I think he’d still prefer to play with me. Yes, the age-old conflict of letting your kids play alone versus playing with you and mom guilt and the like. Of course, night rolls around, and I regret every moment I worked that day. It’s like groundhog’s day. Repeat the next day.
I dropped Parker at school today in the actual drop off line (I was in a robe) and he did a pause outside the car door, turned around, smiled at me, and waved again before a slow run into the school. When he does this, I swear my mind plays a loop of him as a little baby in his crib, or taking his first steps in the park behind the police station around the corner from our old house. He’s six and I can honestly say I’m not sure how it’s possible.
I heard it was TRULY the most dramatic Bachelor season finale of all time and now I want to watch from the beginning. Bachelor-fans, was it really?! (Remember I used to blog my Bachelor commentary three hundred years ago?) I’ve fallen off the wagon! Is this season worth getting back on and should I find the time to binge it?!
Finally, a few things I’m just really loving: this podcast (hearing him and Kristen Bell chat was fun as I like them both, find them pretty down-to-earth, and would love to chat with Steve in the same type of forum. Itsahuntlife podcast?! Lol.), this jacket (seriously considering not shopping for the next three months to save my money for it; been searching for one like it for a long time!), Lindsey knitting and even teaching Parker to knit (I love to see kids doing things that have nothing to do with technology!!), this eye cream that I think may actually be helping with fine lines (how many times can I say fine lines this year? Let’s start keeping track.), this podcast (always) but a particularly mind-blowing one was the one with Sebastian Junger about Finding your Tribe, this awesome tunic top, and bedtime tea at night. That is all!

The entire season was really boring. I would just watch the two-night finale.

More snow! Ugh… but soon enough the warm weather will be here!
On a different note, I have that leather jacket and it’s greatZ I wear it all the time. Total wardrobe staple!

Most dramatic ever. for the first and only time. And yeah, just watch the finale. Even if you watched the whole season you’d see very little of his final two picks because they got minimal airtime.
But like, I’m still emotionally processing the finale somehow? This one was really mind boggling for me. Even got my husband to tune in with me!

YES to a podcast! I absolutely loved when you did the post with your “complaints” about each other. Maybe since he doesn’t want to be in front of the camera, he’d chat in a podcast. haha! Parker learning to knit? This is so awesome. I’m trying to completely figure out how to crochet. I know a little, but not enough to teach my daughters yet.

Thank you for the podcast recommendations lately – I’ve been loving them!

That second paragraph! Joaquim is right there with Anders on the naughty mischievous phase! Such a change from Mia at that age lol but he’s also soo affectionate and sweet that it’s hard to stay upset at the other stuff and omg with the mom guilt, I always have work/chore remorse post bedtime, such is life as a Mom.
Ok Bachelor, Ill say it was a pretty boring season… Becca M made it entertaining and I liked her energy but she was way to young for him and got eliminated, the final two were the quietest and least filmed throughout the season so that was interesting and made me not get so emotionally invested into the season. I havent even watched the finale yet because I heard the jist of what happened and it sounds like a repeat of Jason Mesnick’s season but Arie handled it way worse.
Finally, whyyyyy did you have to show me this fabulous jacket that I now need in my life?? Want to share custody of one and just ship it back and forth between WI ans MA and split the cost? 😉

Funny, Bridget — I’ve been eyeing that exact leather jacket too!! Thinking I might take the plunge. I bet we’d wear it all the time.
And this is random but I sometimes will go back to your most recent Target post (was before Christmas I think — had the Chip and Joanna stuff in it) if I’m in need of a laugh. You knocked it outta the park with that one — so clever, witty, well written and just plain fun. Thank you! Love your writing and heart always!

I’m so glad to hear that Lindsay knits- it was one of my resolutions this year to learn and I love it so far. All 4 rows ? Also, can you recommend a lightweight coverage from your beauty counter site? I plan to try that she cream as well.
Stephanie says
Eye cream, not she cream…My bad.
bridget says
super lightweight (really sheer; tinted moisturizer) would be the dew skin! the tint skin is their foundation, which isn’t heavy coverage but is definitely a foundation compared to the dew skin. i love them both!
