The title of this post alone is a little “womp womp.” We had a 70+ degree day a few weeks back, so when we were walloped with two storms recently–one that was more high winds and rain–and the other that dumped quite a bit of white snow and even a 24-hour power outage on us, it’s a little (a lot) less welcome. Parker–who can be a bit of contrarian such that back in December when I’d tell him summer is my favorite season and he’d retort, “I like winter.”–is even stating the obvious, “I hate winter! I want summer back!” That brief taste of bare feet in the backyard was enough to do us in. Come at me, spring!!Even so, with visitors from out of town (my Mom and Dad!) and Steve away visiting with his Mom (in Mexico! Whatever, Steve! It’s fine!), we decided to fasten our jackets, shove those snow boots on, and make the best of it. Plus, it was my Dad’s 71st birthday! Parker knew when his birthday was, because as he went to bed that night I reminded him, but I wasn’t expecting that I’d wake up with a hushed, “Psst!” from Parker who was standing at my bedside holding the famous Hunt breakfast-in-bed tray. “It’s Pop’s birthday!” he said. I had planned to make my Dad buttermilk pancakes and bacon, his request, but wasn’t thinking about doing it breakfast-in-bed style until Parker dug up the tray in the basement. What a sweetheart. Do you want to build a snowman? (No. Not really. I’d rather be on the beach.) But build a little one we did.He only wanted one glove on the whole time. My Dad’s Irish hat on the snowman is the perfect touch.I’m told we’re getting 8-10 more inches tonight into tomorrow. I guess you can count on another similar post on Wednesday. Fasten your seatbelts.
And happy birthday Dad/Pop. We love you so. Thanks for spending your birthday with us–snow and all.

I’m sure you are OVER winter but these pictures are so pretty. Hoping this next storm goes easy on you….

What a beautiful set of photos. I hate the cold and am glad I live where it’s warm, but I can’t deny the beauty of snow. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

We have had SO MUCH SNOW this winter here in Budapest! This is our 6th winter living here and by far the SNOWIEST! This week we FINALLY got some lovely spring like weather and I thought the winter was over…my husband just read me the weather report for the weekend…snow/rain mix and my first thought was NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least my precious little loves the cold weather and snow so if it brings her joy I will smile through it!
