Making: these pulled pork sandwiches for Jordan’s graduation lunch last Saturday. They were delicious. Something magical happens with pork and coleslaw.
Reading: almost through Hillbilly Elegy and really loving it; reads like a good novel.
Wanting: this adorable top.
Feeling: like I’m often pushing my feelings away, since being a Mom is one big cluster-*&^% of really big feelings and sometimes I just don’t even feel like going there… you know? (Particularly as it relates to Parker going off to Kindergarten when I’m certain he should still be like a one year old and I’d love to have a little bit of that back.)
Listening: to My Favorite Murder; I’ll be honest, while it’s super addicting it also has me googling Ted Bundy at 10 PM so, be warned.
Wishing: that families always lived close. Wouldn’t that be nice? (Or not nice, I guess, depending on who you asked.)
Loving: that Steve’s semester is over. It’s been a rough one on him (and all of us).
Watching: Handmaid’s Tale. SO MANY THOUGHTS. I could start a whole discussion group on this show, I think.
Wondering: what Parker and Anders will be like when they’re older. Will they always cuddle? Will they pull away? Will the teen years go smoothly?
Enjoying: Dustin Tebutt. I think a lot of you would be fans. Give him a listen and report back!

Gosh, I keep finding myself wishing the same thing about family. It really hit me hard this morning when I saw a man who had to have been the grandpa walking with a little boy to the elementary school I drive by on my morning route to daycare drop off and work and it made me really really want to have that for my son. Feeling all the feels for sure! Those momma feels hit me hard too, thankful we’re not close to the kindergarten milestone – thoughts are with you! 🙂

One of my fondest memories was my youngest son spontaneously sitting on my lap when he was 14. And this was in front of his friends. So yes, you will always have hugs and a few cuddles from your aging boys. Lucky for you though as you’ll have little grandchildren to fill the need by then!

I started reading your blog before I became a mom and had no idea what you were talking about regarding the bittersweetness of motherhood. But now, oh, how I understand. At bedtime, you simultaneously crave space and personal time while feeling so sad that another day of their littleness has come to an end. It’s killer. What I wouldn’t give to have another day to hold my newborn and savor every exhausting second.
So, solidarity, sister. Motherhood is heartbreakingly beautiful. I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels it! (My MIL constantly tells me to just get over it. *sob*)

she does NOT. oh man. come my way any time you need to feel those feels, because they’re always bubbling right under the surface here. there’s no way to have the passing of time be so carefree if you love it as deeply as we do. it’s a gift, but it does hurt too! hugs, mama.
