one / i used to take tap dance, and i still miss it to this day. if i ever come upon an adult class nearby that works with my schedule, i would totally love take it again.
two / i’m certain i am one of those women who will always miss/want a baby. it’s just in my makeup. realizing this was something of a comfort. i don’t think i’ll ever sit back and think, “done!”
three / i sometimes get super nostalgic for times of the past. this certainly isn’t news to any of you who’ve been here for more than… 24 hours. certain songs will do it to me too. recently baba o’reilly by the who came on and that song is soooo reminscent of high school cross country for me (i listened to it before every race). i wish i could revisit that time, just for awhile. (i’m one of those strange people who really loved high school.)
four / food writing is some of my absolute favorite kind of writing. fell in love with this book (and delancey too!) back in the day and i can’t stop. foodie blogs are my favorite too. do you have any reccs for me?!
five / the most i’ve ever seen a movie in the theatre is four times and it was, no surprise, titanic. i also had an enormous crush on leonardo dicaprio. after romeo and juliet i thought, in my teenage stupor, that there was a chance–and not even an incredibly slim one–that i could marry him.
six / another somewhat random celebrity crush i have is on jeff bridges. (the leonardo dicaprio one is pretty much over and done with now.)
seven / sometimes i wonder how long i’ll have this blog. another five years? ten? will blogging be obsolete one day? will my kids read this one day? (if they are now… hi! i love you guys!)
eight / i’ve been in three relationships in my life and all with men whose names start with S.
nine / the most beautiful place i’ve ever been is switzerland. it’s also where steve proposed! (and in changing my blog over from blogger to WP, somehow our engagement video didn’t transfer. still trying to figure that out and reload it!)
ten / i’m always afraid of offending people. i often will go over what i said in a conversation after i’ve left a place and then worry that a certain something might’ve possibly been misconstrued or offensive and then i’ll text the person to follow up with them about it. does this make me sound a little high strung? (if the shoe fits…) most often the person hardly remembers what i’m even texting about!

and since wrap dresses might be one of the world’s greatest dresses…
a few favorites from the web… that red one!

I’m always afraid of offending people too. But what you say is so true, the other person pretty much never remembers! All in the head…

I’m the weirdo who loved high school, too…and also the weirdo who has never seen Titanic! (Insert monkey emoji covering eyes, here)

WHAT. YOU’RE KIDDING ME. This is almost more surprising to me than the Trump presidency.

I haven’t explored her blog, but I love Jo Cook’s chicken shwarma recipe. It’s packed with flavor, but not in an overwhelming way, and it smells divine while cooking. The garlic sauce to go with it is delicious and a definite must when making! I serve it with turmeric rice and salad/vegetable, so it stretches the meat portion a little further. It’s on regular rotation at our house! Also, I follow NoCrumbsLeft on Instagram and she makes beautiful dishes. Can’t wait to see who every else follows in the food blog world!

I guessed you were worried about offending people when you brought some politics into your blog a while back. You did such a good job with it, and I’m certain you do that on a regular basis with your friends!!

aw thanks so much, karen!

Not sure how long you took tap dance, but if it was just for a year or so as a kid, then I’m glad there’s someone else out there that still thinks about picking back up a somewhat brief childhood hobby. I took ballet for a year and even remember my teacher pulling me aside to say, “Hey, you’re pretty good at this! Keep it up!” But the thought of not wearing tights and a leotard was too tempting and I didn’t keep going, and now I really wish I could find an adult ballet class, just because I think it’d be fun.
And also, my three meaningful relationships have all been with guys whose names started with J. My friends even made fun of me when I started dating my now-husband because of course I would fall for another J name.

tap for two years and loved every second of it. i’ll do tap and you do ballet. it’s our one life! let’s do it!

i am one of those who will FOREVER want a baby!! I have had six of them, and i’m still not “over” it. I long for them a lot…the smell, the way they look at you, and when they get a little older, those sweet times going in to get them out of bed in the morning and they are so smiley and SWEET. I miss those days so much!! My oldest is about to be a father – and my second oldest has two kids (two grandchildren for me – it’s great but they’re not MINE lol) and my youngest (twin girls) just turned 10 – i think about babies all the time, loved being pregnant, the infant stage and all that. I get it. I am one of those women who will go to the grave with that desire in her heart.
bridget says
yes! it is the most magical, almost mystical thing in life, your own sweet baby. there’s not much (anything?!) i didn’t love about it.

I can so relate to the always wanting a baby feeling. I had three babies who are now legit kids and it’s sooo fun but I still see their little baby faces when I kiss them goodnight while they sleep and I think…yep…one more is just what we need. (That is a lie. We do not need one more.) also, I have a foodie blog http://www.thesaltandstone.com. The food I love to cook is rarely ‘fancy’ but it’s fresh, and local whenever possible.
