There’s not a whole lot that makes me sleep peacefully at night than knowing I’ve successfully captured the funny little sounds, the goofy toddler gait, how much taller my teens are getting (William has his license. What.), and the little nothings and everythings that fill our days. (I will never capture it enough, but I’ll keep trying.) Those days that seem to run into each other, that change so slowly (but somehow swiftly at the same time) that you don’t really notice when suddenly things are not like they once were. I love getting videos of our travel and birthdays and things, but these ones that aren’t really highlighting anything in particular are probably my favorite.
(I’ve had a lot of how-to questions about these videos that maybe it’s time for me to make a post with screenshots that actually shows the process? It’s pretty simple, though so I’ll try to explain and see if that suffices: I take video with either my iPhone (in this case) or with my DSLR (nicer quality; like this video). Get all of those videos on your computer and then load them to iMovie. Piece it together in the order you want–you can do slow-mo, up the speed, cut clips to be shorter, etc. Add title pages, and a song, and then send it to Vimeo or Youtube, etc. and voila!)

I love home videos like these. One day when your kids look back, they’ll be so glad you recorded them. iPhone quality for added bonus!

Such a sweet and wonderful video!
Have you heard of the 1 Second Everyday app? It makes it easy to put together video clips and pictures right on your iPhone. : )

SO cute! Love your videos. You always seem to find just the right songs too… how do you do that?!?!? I would love to see a tutorial on how to do these! I’m technically challenged, but have been saving my snapchat videos planning on putting together an annual video of them spliced together. Hopefully it’s as easy you think! 🙂

thanks!! I have a million playlists on Spotify, and just listen to music all day long, so sometimes one stands out to me and I know I’d love to do a video to it! I’ll try to put a tutorial together!

SO CUTE. How do you put the time and date stamp on your video? Is that an app or some feature in iMovie?
bridget says
an app that i actually video with – camcorder app!

fun fact from your local lactation lady: women pump the most milk while watching videos of their children set to music (more even than videos of them nursing or smelling an item of clothing or whatever)!
bridget says
that is a fun fact!
