Anders turns 2 on the 7th, but since my parents were in town for Thanksgiving, we decided to throw him a party a bit early. We had a Pooh party for a boy who loves Pooh and who’s third word–just after Mama and Dada–was Pooh! My sister and her family came and the boys jumped in the bouncy house at back, while we got lasagna and salad ready and sipped wine. There was so much love in the house for this little boy. The day was perfect. I searched high and low for a Pooh shirt and–makers of children’s wear everywhere, please listen!–there was little to nothing out there with Pooh on it! I finally found this vintage Pooh pajama shirt at this sweet shop and it was perfect. His excitement when there’s a character he loves and recognizes on his clothing is one of my favorite things. He has this sweet little voice as he walks around to show everyone what’s on his shirt, waiting eagerly for the excitement they are sure to show! Ughhhh, it’s just the cutest thing. That picture is him running away from me with a mischievous smile because I kept telling him to stop picking his nose. Little boys. This is a Piglet we already own. We gave him his own stuffed animal–ready? A Pooh bear (you didn’t see that one coming…)–at the party. He brought it to everyone at the party, one by one, to have them hug and kiss it before moving on to any other presents. Meanwhile Parker: “Anders! Another present! Another present!” I love when they could care less about plowing through every present. It’s short-lived. Pooh balloon the size of him!I’m no baker, and it was a busy week, so I ordered a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting from a local bakery and then topped it with some Pooh characters. It was delicious. He was so into blowing his candles out (video below!). A Pooh board book (how many times can I say Pooh before the post is up?).He enjoyed his cake immensely.Including the next morning.
The commentary in this is funny–the voices, the singing, the gasps when he gets close to the flame, my Mom suggesting we sing it a second time. Such a fun bunch with so much love. And Anders blowing out his candles?! The cuteness!!!!
I’ll save the sap for a week from now when we celebrate his real birthday. Till then, I love you, Anders!!

I love the pooh shirt! It screams the ’90s to me. Only because I have vivid memories of my little brother wearing them (and Barney shirts too)! ? I immediately thought this must be an old shirt saved from one of your older boys!

All of this is just so precious. Celebrating with family and ordering a cake sounds like the perfect way to go! Our little one is 10 months so we are CREEEPING up to 1 year….and the debate of to party or not to party? 🙂

That cake is PERFECT! I love to bake….but I’m all about a beautiful bakery-bought cake like that. Plus, you busy! I’m sure you made homemade lasagna right? (Or….costco. Same thing.)
bridget says
ummmm it might’ve been costco lasagna.
