From the other day when we met some friends at one of our favorite farms. Ate cider donuts and the kids ran around before I grabbed a chicken pot pie from the farm store to bring home for dinner. These sunny fall days are the best. This weekend we don’t have too much going on, but Saturday morning is definitely breakfast in bed for Steve who’s birthday was yesterday! Have a good one.
I liked this post on Cup of Jo about raising race-conscious children. (Take-away: don’t raise colorblind children. Talk about race–the same way you would with the sky being blue.)
Twitter reveals how God created animals. (The jellyfish one made me laugh.)
I love the idea of creating simple spaces that really foster a child’s curiosity and independence (without it being overly Montessori/Waldorf/anything). This was a good brush up on that. Any other resources? (An aside: Anders totally gravitates towards the train table every morning. I think just having something that is his size is so nice for him. I’d love to clean it up and set out a few things for him before I go to bed the night before–at least a few times a week.)
This recipe looks like it could not be easier. I think it’s on my list this week.
These look so cozy. I’ve always wanted two-piece pajamas like that.
I finally bought a spiralizer (I got this one on Amazon.) and this recipe with butternut squash noodles looks really good. Question is: is it actually really good?!?

I have those PJ’s and they are SUPER comfortable. That said, they don’t look nearly as good as they did when I bought them. They pill and fade a bit after washing. They are also really long, which won’t be a problem for you (its probably a plus!) But I’m 5’4″ and I have to roll the top and they still drag.
Also, I have the same spiralizer and love it. I’d recommend getting some sort of brush to clean it (just a long dish brush or something like that) b/c it is hard to clean the blades with a sponge or cloth (it shreds it). We use it for zucchini all the time and I also love doing sweet potato fries. I want to try that butternut squash recipe… looks delicious. There are some great recipes here as well: http://inspiralized.com/blog/
I read this post on talking about race with your children and I thought it was good and also had some great resources: http://www.hellobee.com/2016/10/06/talking-to-kids-about-racism-privilege/
Finally, Lauren has some awesome Montessori-inspired posts on her blog Crumb Bums: http://www.crumbbums.com/?cat=147
Ok, sorry that was so long! Have a great weekend!
