There’s not a person in the world who feels more keenly the need to document memories than me. It goes beyond that, actually. It’s a pressure, a burden even! What I’m less good at is backing them up in such a way that they’re both safe and accessible. And the technology is always changing–from what was once film cameras or video cameras now to our iPhones or DLSRs. Add to that, our way of archiving it all is vastly different. Hard drives, iClouds, Dropbox, this and that, the options are endless. Honestly, I find the whole conversation and process exhausting. It’s one of the most important things we should do, but where do we begin?! I have a ton of those photo albums with the plastic sleeves from my childhood, but they’re big and bulky and shoved away in a box in the basement. I have a few hard drives scattered about but are they up to date? Are they even working properly?! Are you tired yet? I AM. Enter Legacybox.Legacybox contacted me last month and after reading about their services, we were hooked. Steve feels the pressure of all of this almost as much as I do. We were both sick of albums upon albums collecting dust, taking up storage, and never really being flipped through. So, here’s how Legacybox works: you choose the box for you, all different sizes and prices, to be filled with multiple formats from pictures to VHS tapes. They send you a box with return shipping and you fill it! Return the box and within a few weeks you get the above: a CD with all of your pictures and/or video memories.Plus, you get all your pictures back. Simple as that. I plugged that little thumb drive (an upgrade option for any order) into the back of my computer to pull some into this post. It could not have been easier. So simple, organized. What an amazing service! Going through the pictures with Steve was so much fun for us. He had included pictures of his grandparents, of Shannon and the kids. I had included pictures from my old house, cousins, Christmas morning with my sisters. So many special memories. I’m so glad to have saved in a permanent, safe way now.So now how about some Hunt / Carmody memories?!Steve’s Dad at the top of Pike’s Peak in, he guesses, 1950-something? Having been to the top of Pike’s Peak, and having it look nothing like this anymore, this picture is so fascinating to me.This is me. I’m thinking like kindergarten age? In front of my childhood home (which my sisters and I still miss, so much, to this day).Steve and Shannon on their wedding day in Minnesota. Steve looks so young!Baby Bridget hanging out in a can as you do.Little Steve. Gosh he’s cute. This is a bunch of my cousins in Sea Isle City. I’m front and center with the mouth agape and the eyes closed. Kate’s the one screaming like a psycho. Erinn is the one not quite in the group lineup. My mother is the one looking pissed. Us Carmody girls did not bring our a-game that day. Here’s Shannon with Nathaniel when they were living in England while Steve was getting his PhD. She’s pregnant with Jordan there. Isn’t that a great picture? This is me and our neighbor/family friend Timmy on the corner of my old street. Nathaniel, Jordan, and William. They’re so little! Guh. Tiiiiiiiime. Slow down.
Steve and little Lindsey.College orientation! I look at that girl and I think, “Do you have any idea you’re going to marry your 39 year old professor with four kids in a few years?” She has no idea.
That was so much fun. Thank you Legacybox for sponsoring this post. Click HERE to get your Legacybox. First 25 people to use the code HUBBY at checkout receive 40% off their order. Offer expires 11/15.

I love the way you are not afraid or intimidated to keep Shannon a part of Steve and the kids’ lives. A picture of their wedding day even. That is so, so rare and just absolutely beautiful. What a mature, brave, amazing woman you are. Your family is so lucky to have you.
bridget says
oh thank you. you’re giving me way too much credit though, mallory! but i appreciate it nevertheless.

I love this! I love that you included Shannon in these photos. I love that you included your childhood home. My parents still live in my childhood home and have talked about moving. I can’t handle the thought of it not being their home anymore. Also, how is it that you don’t look a day older than at your college orientation?! What is this witchcraft?

ha. you’re my favorite, ashley. i see that i’ve aged but i’m glad to be fooling you 🙂

Loved the trip down memory lane. Reminds me that I need to ask my MIL for some photos of my husband as a kid.

Things like that really help preventing those nightmares with all my hard drives being just empty… And the picture of a tiny bit younger Bridget – I know from reading some comments under your pictures of Parker that I’m in the minority there but anyhow: I see so much of you in Parker.
bridget says
thanks licia! it’s true, no one (hardly) ever says they see me in him but i sort of love it 🙂
