That desperate scramble has begun, nay, it’s in full force: do all of the things before the warm weather leaves us! That’s just what I had in mind last Friday when I grabbed the boys and headed to one of our favorite beaches for the afternoon. Is it going to be the last beach day? There’s a good chance of that, I’m afraid. I’m already talking about apple picking this week. That is just so fall.
Parker is my legitimate right hand man on days like this when it’s just the three of us. He was hauling stuff down the beach alongside me and, as the tide came in, he’d race over to our stuff and drag it up the beach. Over and over again, he’s noticing these things and he’s on it. It’s so sweet to watch him grow into these responsibilities and love to take them on. He enjoyed collecting things and used his dump truck as a catch all. It’s amazing the fun that two boys can have with some trucks, shells, and a beach. We could’ve stayed for hours. (The only reason we left was biting flies that descended after we’d been there for awhile.)This particular beach has such a small parking lot so it can never really get busy. When you’re there, you’ve got the run of the place and the boys can just wander all around without getting lost. By contrast, when we’re on the Jersey beaches I’m always pointing out landmarks to Parker so that he would know how to get to us if we were ever separated.
This kid. Guys, I’m obsessed with him. I seriously plant no fewer than 75 kisses on his body every single day. We spent awhile jumping over waves. I’d hold Anders’ hands and swing him over each one while he giggled and giggled. Parker would alert us, “A big one!” (In reality, they were all tiny. Another benefit of this beach–there’s no drop off; it’s shallow for like two hundred feet off the shoreline. Perfect for little ones.) I love his face here. The Mom-kiss-squish face. I just coined that. What a summer, what a life.

Apple picking, yay! I am an orchardist out in western MA, about an hour and a half west of Boston. If you are looking for a nice day trip filled with gorgeous views, sculpture gardens (including a hay hut village that kids LOVE), cider slushies, cider donuts, chickens to feed and more come out to Park Hill Orchard. Photo ops galore and so so fun!

I’m a western MA native and I love this comment! I’m going to have to add a trip to Park Hill Orchard to my fall plans!

Does Anders have white spots on his legs? or am I seeing things? Something identical just appeared on my daughter Clara (2) at the end of the summer and I haven’t made a trip in to the derm yet…
bridget says
he does! it’s mostly left over from the eczema that he had though, i think.

My boy got those white patches from dermatitis too.. They eventually fade and there isn’t a lot you can do except keep him moisturised.

Honestly, I just can’t get over Anders and how cute he is. He’s just that perfect edible baby. What a great stage! And Parker too…just an amazing little helper. And you probably think, when did that even happen?
bridget says
I totally think that. And Anders is totally squishy and edible, yes!!!
