We’re at the lake for a bit and being here, breathing this air, seeing these views–well, we’re happy to be back. It’d been two years since we even laid eyes on it and since it’s one of our most special places, we’re really glad to be here again. The last time I was on the boat, I was pregnant with Anders and Parker was 3! I imagine the dialogue in Anders’ head: “So this thing parked in the yard all this time?? It goes in water?” If he didn’t think being a Hunt was fun before, we hope he thinks so now. He loves it, and he takes those long, windy naps on it as babies do. {An old Winnipesaukee post!}
Making: tonight’s menu is ground beef sautéed with a bunch of veggies–peppers, squash, onions, carrots–and topped with sour cream and cheese. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this meal before.
Drinking: being around my Mom, she’s all about the ACV in your water bottle. So… I’m drinking that. It’s… okay. “But the health benefits!”
Reading: Vanity Fair. I actually forgot my book, which is perfectly acceptable since I almost have zero time to read anyway.
Wanting: these awesome shoes — and on saaaaale!
Listening: French Cafe on Spotify–it’s a nice playlist! Do you have a favorite?
Looking: for meteor showers! Did you hear that’s happening this week?
Playing: hide-and-go-seek; Anders has the worst hiding skills and IT KILLS ME. He loves it.
Wishing: it weren’t August. The last time I did this I said “that it weren’t July.” I’m predictable. It’s my charm!
Enjoying: relaxing. Being out of my own house puts me into such a more relaxing mood. Instead of racing around to do laundry, answer emails when the boys are finally engaged in something, I’m sitting with them and I love it.
Loving: spending time with my Mom and Dad. Love when we vacation together.
Wearing: these new sneakers. They’re so comfortable. And yes, Steve and I both have them.
Following: the Olympics. And don’t get me wrong, Michael Phelps is unbelievable but does anyone find him super obnoxious when he wins? Eye rolls for days.
Tara says
YES. I just said to my husband last night, “You know… Michael Phelps seems like he’s kind of an asshole in real life.” Obviously I have no idea, but eye rolls for days is right.

right?! the way he was doing the bring it/cheer for me hands. how much cooler he’d be if he were as insanely good as he is and equally humble about it.

Will you tell me the ratio on your water to ACV? I’ve tried a million times, but haven’t been able to stomach it. “The health benefits!” 🙂 But maybe I’m using too much ACV. Thanks!

I think she eyeballs it each time — I can’t say I love it either… my Mom just said less than a T in an 8 oz. glass. In the biggest BKR waterbottle, I probably had at least a shot.

I was totally not going to comment, but I had to after the Michael Phelps comment. At the risk of sounding like a total crazy, obsessed fan… I have followed Michael’s career for quite a while and I can honestly say that I have never seen him act the way he acted last night. I think he is typically pretty humble regarding his success (which is pretty amazing, considering the amount of success he’s achieved). But last night’s race against Le Clos was very personal. And if anybody was an a-hole, it was Le Clos. He’s been talking smack for years! And he was simply unable to deliver on said smack last night.
I will now step down from my soap box. Seriously, I’m not a crazy person. I just really, really love the Olympics.

to be fair, i had no idea any of this le clos history–so i will forgive you this time michael 🙂 but seriously, he’s an unbelievable specimen of athleticism. so i’m still crazy impressed by him.

Here is a really long but awesome article about Michael Phelps that he didn’t have to do but is open and honest and gives lots of insight to who he was/is and may (or may not) change your mind about him: http://www.si.com/olympics/2015/11/09/michael-phelps-rehabilitation-rio-2016

I agree about Michael Phelps! I’ll be the first to say that obviously I don’t know him and claim to know his backstory intimately, I would just imagine.. when you’re on display for the entire world to see, wouldn’t you want to at least APPEAR humble and lovely as an athlete? Even if inside you’re thinking “in your face, Le Clos?” I don’t know. His response irked me so much because I feel like it made USA look cocky. Maybe I’m overthinking it. But I found this article interesting because I like Ronda Rousey (she seems really down to earth) and it sounds like the general feel I get from Michael Phelps as a person…

But hey, 20+ is a lot of gold! So props to him always.
