I’m on a perpetual search for the perfect t-shirt (also for my iPhone, the baby monitor…). I’m talking loose fit, non-pilling, casual and fancy potential, drapes perfectly shirt. They’re weirdly illusive, right? At least for me. I’ve got a long torso, so they’re often not long enough. They’re sometimes too boxy, too stretchy, not stretchy enough, v-neck not deep enough, too deep, too see-through, pill too quickly. I got two of these for Italy: gray and black (wearing the black one here, and the gray one here; I wore them all the time.). Pros: super stretchy (pull-down friendly for nursing and keeps its stretch), soft fabric, perfect v-neck, casual/fancy flexibility. Cons: it’s begun to pill (but I also wore the shit out of it for months so, maybe that’s to be expected?).
In fact, now I’m thinking it was the perfect one and I should just end this thought-provoking post and order more.
Through this search, I’m also realizing that I’m really fussy about this stuff. I bought a few from Everlane, and thought surely they’d fit the bill and they all went back! A bit boxy for my taste (that sentence should be said in the most pretentious voice possible). Next I’d like to try some of these. Those colors! And this one is a strong contender as well (but not sure I love the shape of the v-neck. You see what I mean?! FUSSY.).
Enough for now. Carry on.

I'm always on the hunt for the perfect T. Its exhausting.I'm digging the ASOS ones thought and I have to know did you order them in the tall size? I like things a little longer.
bridget says
i didn't! and they still worked. though i'd like them with more length too.

Yessss! I am fussy too. WHY is it so hard to find the perfect tee? I tried Everlane as well and was so sure they'd be awesome but I agree, too boxy. I love Madewell's t shirt. I bought a bunch a few years ago and they were/are my favorite. But I see they've renamed them so I'm not sure if they're made the same as they used to be. But might be worth checking out if you haven't already!
bridget says
i was not expecting them to be boxy at all!

Oh, my goodness. Can I get an "Amen!" Are all women on the hunt for the perfect T-shirt? I think so. Why, oh why is it so terribly hard? I finally snagged this one here – http://bit.ly/1N4XlLJ from Old Navy. I had no expectations but it is my new favorite. I think may buy the ASOS you featured.
bridget says
do it! you won't regret it. (or at least i hope you don't.)

I'm currently (always) on the hunt for the perfect white tee shirt, but they're always so thin and you can see right through them! Have you found one in white that's not translucent? That ASOS one is exactly the cut I'm looking for.

Hands down the JCrew Vintage v-neck is my favorite t-shirt. If you buy them on the factory site, you can get them for like $7 with free shipping, no joke. The most I will pay is $13 because they're ALWAYS on sale. They refresh the colors every season, too!! I've been buying them for years. So many colors! Works with EVERYTHING! If they wear out, you can just buy a new one, because hello, $7. But the vintage cotton ones hold up the best – I love the material they're made out of, it's kind of less soft and just straight cotton (I know that doesn't make any sense… but it means they don't pill – EVER!!)
bridget says
$7! that is pretty amazing.

I've got the long torso issue as well, ordered these (link below) for vacation in Israel and they wore so well , wearable out of my poorly organized suitcase with no ironing required, perfect length and are still going strong! A little pricey for a tee but worth it. http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/ca/en/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=32896649&parentid=SUGGESTIVE+SEARCH+RESULTS&q=truly madly

i saw that one actually! the length is awesome.

Love the short sleeve swing tee from old navy – I think it's new and not your typical t shirt, but it's cute! http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=2210400020000&cid=1036154

I'm super fussy too and have been trying different brands for a few summers now. I've tried everlane, gap, old navy and this year, that Madewell one. I have broad shoulders but a narrower torso and I LOVE the v in the neck 😉 so I vote those all the way! Jcrew are ok and gap and old navy don't have a strong shelf life. I love everlanes material, but I agree – they are boxier. Good luck!

These look good! I am on a perpetual quest for the perfect t shirt as well. I thought I would love Everlane and sent them all back too. I'm going to try these Asos ones! They look like it might be the one? Thanks!

I love the Victoria's Secret v neck tee for a basic tee.

The j crew vintage tees are the BEST. For me it's hard to find one in a size that is nicely loose and the v-neck not too deep. I usually end up wearing a camisole underneath. They do stretch out a ton just from taking them on and off. The colors are so nice and they're so soft, basically I'm wearing them most of the time!

The shirt on those models look amazing! I need a perfect tee too. Tell me which one is perfect for you 🙂

Check out– https://squareup.com/store/carly-jean Her clothes are all super cute but her basics are FILLED with ton of shirts and longer tunic tops that are all made of that wonderful illusive soft stretchy material. I've dressed them down for class and up for date night!! Best part.. I've worn the crap out of them for months.. NO PILL, NONE!
XOXO

I too have a long torso and my favorite t-shirt is from Uniqlo! It's here: http://www.uniqlo.com/us/product/women-supima-cotton-washed-v-neck-short-sleeve-t-shirt-136335.html#09
Smash says
I too am on the Uniqlo bandwagon…certainly made for long torso's. Shouldn't have to pay a fortune for a stinking white tee and I like to replace them every year so these fit the bill. Last I looked they were out of stock in my size but hang in there…worth it.
docswife says
I've never ordered from asos but you have me sold even if you're done with them! but what is with the sizing? any idea what a general jcrew small would be?
bridget says
I'm often a US4 there (and am in this shirt too!).
