arriving home after a three-month target fast (calling it a fast is a bit of a misrepresentation when target wasn’t even a possibility abroad. nice try, bridge. if target were in italy, you’d have been there because you have no self control.) to target at christmastime is sort of like entering the promised land. snow globes and bottle tree brushes! fir-scented candles! ornaments big and small!
i only needed a few things: shampoo and conditioner, cotton balls, the whole nate berkus home line.
i never did decide on shampoo and conditioner, though i was in that aisle for a good seven minutes and smelled several of them. i literally stood there and thought, “i just don’t know. i’m going to ask my readers.” so here we are. can i explain to you what i want, and then those of you who know these things tell me what to get? okay. i want VOLUME, my hair is dry-ish, wavy, and has two postpartum bald spots on either temple that need to be fixed right away. oh, and no post-shower care, please. i want to just have it be that way with zero effort. in sum, my needs are simple, please advise.
what do you guys think of the new adult coloring book fad? i sort of love it. coloring is such a quiet activity. it requires almost nothing of you and yet you can’t do anything else while you’re doing it. it’s genius! start with this one.
i sort of liked these boots (sold out in my size at the store, however).
i also bought balderdash, on a total whim which is fairly unlike me. i remember playing it down the shore with all my cousins and nearly peeing my pants with laughter. put away the iPads, let the family game nights commence! you hear that, william and lindsey?
i really exercise my brain when i’m going through the aisles of target, don’t i?
p.s. do any of those gel polishes actually work?
till next time!

Love the Sinful Shine gel color and topcoat…super cheap and excellent coverage. I haven't seen it last more than a week but I am very rough on my nails! For the price, it's amazing!

I love Balderdash! My favorite definition ever was "a turtle's backpack"… lol My sister is terrible at it, but it makes it that much more fun!

Yay Target!
I use the Sally Hansen gel polish and while it doesn't last as long as the professional gel manicures, it also doesn't wreck my nails. I use it as a top coat over regular nail polishes and it works great — don't get conned into thinking it only works with their colors. I actually am sporting some nail polish I put on Saturday night and this morning there is only one smallish chip on my right thumbnail. I'm never going back. If I put time into actually painting my nails I want it to last. Totally worth it.

Hello! I have the same hair as you do (luck us!) I recommend the following three products:
1. Jennifer Aniston's shampoo line http://www.livingproof.com/jen/
2. the miracle tousle spray: https://www.paulmitchell.com/our-products/awapuhi-wild-ginger/
3. for touch ups the next day: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod481454
These things are not cheap, but they literally changed my morning routine AND at night, after the gym I can shower and spritz and sleep and get out of the house in 5 minutes the next morning.

Oh! and the Revlon Gel- 3 different bottles, but it lasts 2 weeks and you don't need any special lights.

Colouring books, for children and adults, are well loved here; accompanied by an audiobook or music close to bedtime really saved a lot of evenings from the usual outburst of temperaments – it's not game night (which I loved but never managed to make a tradition here) but as close as possible.

I love the Seanik solid shampoo from LUSH. It's really amazing with volume. I use a little conditioner from there (usually the Big conditioner), and my hair dries pretty volume-y and wavy, even without really anything in it.

My hair has never looked better after starting to use Acure shampoo and conditioner! I have curly/wavy/dry hair and this perks it right up…(link to target: http://www.target.com/p/acure-organics-moroccan-argan-oil-argan-stem-cell-triple-moisture-shampoo-8-oz/-/A-16601723#prodSlot=medium_1_2&term=acure )

So not a target brand, but i have had the same post-partum hair issues, and Young living shampoo and conditioner is the way to go! Add in a drop of rosemary essential oil to the bottle and its even better(rosemary thickens hair…so really you can add rosemary to any shampoo)! The best is that the yl shampoo is highly concentrated so one bottle can last months.

Kevin Murphy's hydrate is incredible. His whole natural line. Hydrate is good for me in winter when it's dryer and gives as much volume support as a shampoo can
Meghan Lewis says
Have you tried Ogx biotin and collagen shampoo and conditioner?! I get mine at target and it is the bees knees! It smells like heaven. And it gives me crazy volume and magnifies my natural waves (I let my hair air dry with it) so I feel all pretty-bed-heady. (The only stipulation is that it can give your hair a little more static, so to cure this I rinse the shampoo with HOT water and the conditioner with COLD.) Good luck to ya lovely MUAH!

I use Renpure Volume shampoo and conditioner and it's wonderful! It does just what I need with out all the harsh chemicals. And! It's only $4.99 each. Perfection.

I love the Revlon gel line. I only use the color and top coat, and I get a full week before they start to chip. Also, I do really like the Living Proof line of products. Or, LUSH has fabulous hair products. For volume I've used the Big Shampoo – smells amazing.

I'm way too lazy to ever comment but this is important. Ha! Get the blue shampoo/conditioner from juice beauty! It's made my thin flat wavy hair much more manageable!! Or try the volume one! No sulfates no anything! All natural and so good!

I'm a nail girl, cant afford to have done so I do myself. I suggest Sally Hansen insta dry or Sally Hansen complete manicure. Both are awesome and can be removed with regular CVS nail gel polish remover no soaking requiered 🙂

I've used Aveda on my hair for the last 10ish years – I like it so much I import it to Norway 😉 The Pure Abundance line is for volume and it works well for me.
Susie says
I too am loyal to Aveda for many years. After my hair started falling out in chunks about three months post partum, I bit the bullet and ordered their Invati line. I was skeptical, but it actually worked/works; my daughter is now 2 but I still use it. It's not cheap, but often if you buy something else you can get the sample trio (shampoo, conditioner, revitalizer). For what it's worth, I only use the shampoo and revitalizer (which you do have to spray on and rub into your scalp while your hair is wet but it takes 5 seconds). My hair has never been thicker, fuller, or more healthy.

I use the Kiss My Face…Anytime shampoo and conditioner. It's mild, makes my hair shiny and soft plus its all natural.

I feel so creepy asking this buuuuut– is that a cushion you're sitting on in your car? I have done this for years and my friends and family think I am the weirdest. Ok truly, I sit on the inflatable pad they gave me at the hospital after I had my son…but it is so comfy and I have a long commute!! Happy to see I might not be the only crazy out there.
Bridget Hunt says
ha, no! just the seat! but I say ride on that cushion with pride!!

After 4 babies, I found the quickest remedy for pp bald spots- castor oil! I rubbed a little on every night once I noticed thinning and it filled back in months quicker than normal.
Sarah Puleo says
Right there with you on the temple bald spots! Gah- the pregnancy gifts just keep coming. Good thing these babies are cute and don't care about hair as long as they can pull it.
Brooke says
I use the Essie Gel top coat with all of drug store polishes and my nails look better and last longer than when I get a manicure. Try it!

Well I don't know about YOU but my solution to my post partum hair woes…I pixied it (chopped like 18 inches off). BAM! Best hair move I've ever made. Now I wash my hair every three days and use dry shampoo in the morn and a little hairspray. I freaking look like a blonde Lily Collins (no, no I don't). I do feel awesome though and like I can get away with way more fashion wise now that I have an edgy 'do. Kinda nice when I was starting to feel like a frumpy tired mom blah. So no solution on shampoo. Maybe you should just chop all your hair off? When your hair is 3 inches long shampoo doesn't matter much. Ha! (Confession: I DO miss my top knot on occasion though) 😉
