We get in bed each night and crash. I don’t recall the actual falling asleep moments because they’re nonexistent. We wake up in the morning and within moments are out the door again. With the exception of William and Lindsey who inevitably stay up too late the night before. Then Steve and I take turns yelling, “Time to get up! Time to get up!” for a good thirty minutes before we’re actually departing. By minute twenty-seven, when we are actually heading out the door, they then begin to rush around demanding to know why we didn’t wake them up earlier. Sound familiar?
I said this before, but we’re staying near the Forum, so the above is our view around the corner from our place. It’s pretty magical. Granting, I don’t know exactly what I’m looking at, but I try my darnedest to imagine it in its hey-day. (This book is enormously helpful with that sort of thing.) Also helpful with that sort of thing: Steve Hunt. The man knows his stuff. “And here’s where Augustus’ sister’s friend’s dog peed.” Not exactly, but he knows details both big and small. Rome is a big classroom to him.
We did get some cute pictures in front of the Pantheon though. This one is a little ridiculous except Anders’ face made it a keeper for me. Pretty sure William and Parker are fighting over the umbrella?
We found a great burger place. You can shake your head at us all you want, but we miss burgers and we’ve eaten here three times in the last two weeks. The burgers are truly delicious. So, if you find yourself in Rome and needing a good dose of iron, stroll to the end of the Corso, just before Piazza del Popolo and grab a Brillo burger. You won’t be sorry.
I am loving your posts. I have never been to Italy (shocking I know) but we want to go one day. However after reading all your posts, I am actually quite confused as to where I want to go. I think I might just have to spend 4 weeks over there and probably come back about 100lbs heavier due to all the food 🙂 Don't worry though, I also enjoy your posts in Boston!

I studied abroad in Rome and the burger thing made me laugh. We traveled to Paris one weekend and rather than try any French food we went right to a buger place! Italian food is great but it is so.. Italian! There isn't the international food variety were used to in the US and even other international cities and it definitely gets old after a while! Looks like a fabulous trip, your making me nostalgic. 🙂
yes! so true. a looooot of pizza/pasta/panini options but sometimes u just need A BURGER

I've been reading your blog for a few years now and can't get over how grown up William and Lindsey look! For some reason it really seems like they've transformed while abroad. They seem like such sweet older siblings to Parker and Anders. No possible way to get bored with these posts and all the beautiful pictures! Enjoy the remainder of your trip, and eat some extra carbs for the rest of us…winter is coming after all!
I agree on William and Lindsey! I've been reading since before Parker. William looks like such a man now. And she's such a pretty lady. I think you must have stayed right near where we rented near the Forum. Great location! We didn't love Rome nearly as much as Florence and Vernazza, but it's so rich in history that it sucks you in regardless!
