Before dinner, during dinner, everyone here is drinking these bright orange drinks on ice. Aperol spritz! They’re always served with a bowl of potato chips too. I like them much better than the Negroni I tried at Como.
Trader Joe’s products to try. Their peanut butter is such a win (we brought six jars with us, and we are already through them all). And I’d also add their dark chocolate pretzel crisps to the list. They’re ridiculous.

Hey Bridget! We are heading to Italy in just over a week! 😀 Would you recommend getting our train tickets before we go, or do you think it will be fine to get them once we get there? We will be going from Venice to Vernazza, then Vernazza to Rome. Just wondering what you though. I looked at getting them in advance online, but I've heard the train system can be tricky, so I thought it might be just easier to get them once we get there?!
hi lynn! we didn't buy train tickets before arriving last time we came, or this time either. i think you'd be fine to get them when here. we have booked some in advance now that we are here–through small travel agents in town (who speak great english) which is nice. but we didn't book any from the U.S. if you read a few posts back, my husband wrote on train travel–the website just seems quite complicated! also… vernazza! what fun!!!!
Wow that airbnb is unreal! My sister and I went to Civita in 2004. My university used to do a study abroad program there and they cancelled it the year before I was eligible but I had to see it in person. It's like out of a fairy tale! Glad you got to enjoy the magic.
When I was in Italy, all I desired to do was eat and drink. And see historic sites. I imagine that's all on your list as well, but should you happen to want to do a workout, let me know. I taught at a workshop in Umbria a couple years ago and know lots of trainers there and a good gym. There are several Francesco's there that would be happy to teach you, and you would be happy to look at. ?
