How about some links to take us into this three day weekend?! Then we’ll call it a day.
// This song. It’s a new fave.
// I’ve said before that the Middle East sort of fascinates me (this book is a good starter to the region) so this clip was really interesting to me. In a nutshell: Ben Affleck and Bill Maher go head-to-head on the Muslim religion + stereotyping.
Let’s unpack this. For the next hundred years.
// Related to the above: Cornel West weighs in on the subject.
// On a much lighter note: This clip. Fast forward to 2:20. Also, he’s a great dancer.
// I shared my beauty routine with Parents Magazine. If you come away with anything, let it be this: eyebrow pencils are an invisible-eyebrowed-gal’s (that’s me; I just didn’t know it) best friend. Kate’s over there too, and much funnier.
// This flannel (order a size up! The roomier the better for those.) and this sweatshirt-that’s-not-a-sweatshirt (to be worn every other day). And $23 slippers, folks!
// So far three people I know, or sort of know, or very loosely know have gone into labor early since I’ve been pregnant. I’m 32 weeks next week and we have nothing ready. Car seat is in storage, baby clothes are where??, and Parker is in the crib half the time (in our bedroom). I would really like to go to my due date.
// I typically go to the library with Parker without any plan. And he, willy-nilly, fills this reusable bag that we bring with books that he’s pulled off the shelf at his level. As it’s nearing full I say, “Okay! One more!” You maybe already know this, but there are a lot of bad children’s books out there. Half of them we like, half of them we read once and then they get plopped in the return pile, and sometimes there’s one that’s a real keeper. No Pirates Allowed! is one of the keepers from this week’s library trip. Nicely done, Parker. Actually, we really liked A Walk in London too. Any keepers in your recent library trip?
// Thank you for your answers and questions on this post. I loved reading them. I’ll respond to the questions soon!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go the Jcrew factory outlet after school today to get that exact flannel! Have you been to the Premium Outlets in Merrimack? They are awesome!

three other informative reads but with narratives that are both engaging and interesting- revolution 2.0, about egypt and the events leading up to it
the lemon tree, about israel, palestine and the nakbah from both perspectives
the body and the blood, about christians in the middle east and how they're all emigrating.
bridget says
Thank you Kandyce! I knew you'd have some input here. Which should I start with?!

I went into labour last week 2.5 weeks early. I was convinced I was going to go late like they say most first timers do but nope, early & fast delivery. Our birth educator talked about how many women's bodies will hold off labour if the woman feels it's not time (they're not ready, they're waiting on something or someone, they're waiting for someone to leave, etc.) I really wanted to get my hair done. That night, labour started.
bridget says
Funny you say that, Parker arrived two days early within 12 hours of my Mom's arrival (she was due to be in the labor room with us). I was shocked. Convinced I'd go late.
I'm just going to get everything ready, nesting-overdrive. This weekend. ALL OF IT.

First I love your blog and have read for a while and never commented! Woops! Second I ordered your Jerusalem book last year for my dad for xmas and read it myself & loved it! Lastly best book by far I've read on middle east lately is Son of Hamas by Moseb Yousef. It is a must read!

I have no self-restraint. I just bought that shirt, in navy. The sad part, Sophie has a mini-one, yet I still bought it.

I've never heard of that song before or that group. However, I think I'm going to be listening to it all day today…I like it. Thanks for the addition to my playlist. 🙂
Fit With Flash says
Not sure if I've mentioned these to you in the past or not (forgive me if I have), but "How I Became a Pirate" and it's sequel "Pirates Don't Change Diapers" (by Melinda Long) are good fun! And fingers crossed for a full term for you and new baby Hunt.

Check out these books…. "Ish," "Art and Max," "What do you do with an Idea," "Veggie Monster," "Come on Rain." I could go on and on…. (I'm an elementary literacy coach (I teach teachers), so I keep my head in books all day long. 🙂

thank you!! i will take all the suggestions!

I legit thought this song was called "Pumpkin Blood" for the past year. I finally figured out the truth about a month ago, and it really blew my mind.
