friends of ours have a home on lake ossipee and were nice enough to invite our gang to spend the night. they’re the type of friends who are perpetually feeding you and giving you drink so… we accepted their invitation without question. (we accept invitations even if that’s not the case, however.) they’re also so fun and we laugh a lot with them. bonus.
we brought the most delicious steak tips and drank beer (them) and lemonade (me and the kids–party animals!) and ate appetizers and burgers and hot dogs and eggs and bacon the next morning while we watched the kids run around the beach and attempt fishing on the dock. parker kept exclaiming, “i got one! i got one!” actually satisfied with the red plastic one at the end of his which was adorable. william caught at least three and lindsey got one. it was really fun. the weather was cool so it was never really swimming weather but who cares when you’re on a lake. the kids swam, but i’m pretty sure they don’t have internal thermometers? i’m forever chasing parker around with a sweatshirt while he tries to flee, happy to have constant chills and be with the big kids. we also paddle-boated and went around on the pontoon and jet ski and… it was just really lovely.
the idea that summer is nearing its end is a little shocking. steve goes back to school on wednesday, and the kids shortly thereafter. where’d it all go? we’re going to savor the rest of it, i tell you. i’m going to eat a steady diet of cheeseburgers and watermelon from here on out.

I'm going to miss summer, but I just love fall! Parker is just the cutest. He is going to be a great big brother! I haven't been to a lake all summer, maybe I can squeeze in a quick trip soon.

I'm opposite. I'm ready for summer to be over with and let me tell you, it's not leaving without a fight. We are forecasted somewhere between 92-101 over the next ten days.
BUT, I will say that you make a trip to the lake look fun! And sipping on lemonade and eating watermelon for a few more weeks doesn't sound so bad either. 🙂
(I feel ya about the school thing, too. My husband's classes started last week and the kids start next week. The busy season has officially started!)

oh my gosh, stop it! i live on ossipee lake! today was the best weather we've had all week, so i'm bummed that y'all had the drab days. i'm glad you got the opportunity to come up & visit! isn't it just the best to have the kinds of friends that you don't even think twice about visiting?

you live there?! how lucky are you! what a beautiful spot. we did have drab days, but honestly it was sort of fun bundling up with a cup of coffee and looking at the lake. we'll hopefully be up at winnipesaukee this week too!

Huh, I'm not used to a post on a week-end, what a nice surprise, made my day.
I really love all your pictures, I think I might have mentioned it, from time to time, maybe 😉 but the "Lake pictures" are always a favourite of mine…I have a thing for lakes 😉
