some mornings i get parker out of his crib and have to sort of pump myself up for another day. i don’t pop out of bed all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed like some of you special people. it takes a little more to get me going. a little coffee in my cup, a little easy-listening music. met with a toddler who absolutely does pop out of bed bright-eyed and bushy-tailed almost 100% of his days, you realize quickly where you’re lacking. can i have some of what you have parker? even so, our mornings are quiet. parker will eat some wheaties or yogurt with granola alongside lindsey eating her wheaties. i put on some jazz or george winston. gracie’s still half asleep. lately the mornings have started cloudy which, as you know, has an even sleepier effect on things. steve’s been home, his normal class schedule is over for the summer. he lounges on the floor while parker plays around us–interrupting us with his latest toy creation every few minutes. we refill our coffee mugs. sometimes i catch parker flipping through books, one of my favorite things to see him doing. better still when he has gracie sharing the seat with him.
the quiet mornings don’t last long. the day’s events and errands shuffle into their place needing to be checked off the list. but i like them. i like staying in my pajamas, having an empty agenda, if only for a few hours.

I just had this thought: you have such great taste in music and I love that you're exposing your children to it. Such a great legacy to pass on to them.

I've started thinking about how things are going to change next year when my oldest starts preschool. The mornings will be quite different around here. No more lazing about and even though sometimes I think I might lose my mind if I don't get out of the house, I think I'm actually going to miss it. Life goes on…..

Sweet morning calm. This photo of Parker and pup captures it perfectly.

gosh this is the most perfect and beautiful morning photo! i am not a morning person, so i absolutely love that "we don't have plans yet" very short part of the day specifically reserved for coffee intake. 🙂

This sounds amazing. I feel like so many mornings we are running around like chickens with our heads cut off. But no agenda….a second cup of coffee? Sign me up!

What an amazing picture! I'm not a morning person either, luckily my husband is, so if he's not at the university, he can manage the Parker-like kids, while I wait for the coffee to kick in. Yesterday we had a day without any agenda, it felt like heaven and we all really liked and needed it, I suppose. Have a nice week-end, Bridget and Family 🙂

I make sure to keep an empty agenda a few days of the week. My three girls are done with school today, and I told them there will be no waking up till 0800. Then we can start our day!

Beautiful picture! Sorry if you've already answered this question a million times, but where did you get/how did you make your teepee? It's awesome.
