don’t look so surprised. i wrote an entire post dedicated to my love of uggs once. eye-rolllllll now let’s get to it!
now, these sweatpants. these sweatpants! my new year’s resolution was to wear pajama pants that are long enough. gosh, when i write it out……. (shoot for the moon!)
i’m not lying when i say that these sweats are one of the better things to have happened to me in 2014. granting, we’re only two weeks in but if the shoe fits… anyway, i’m definitely making good on that resolution so far. they are so comfortable, both fitted and loose (yes! opposites! at the same time!) and sooooo soft. i actually get antsy when they’re in the dirty pile. so, they keep the laundry moving along at a rapid pace so i can be sure to have them back every single day. and, i did buy two lest one does go missing. (seriously. steve could attest. i wear them for at least a large portion of every single day. he’s in the background chanting, “no more sweatpants!” right now!) as soon as i’m in the house, off goes the outfit of the day and on goes the sweats. that sentence would imply that they’re not good enough to be worn out, however, which is entirely untrue. didn’t mean to offend you, sweats.
btw: i’m 5’10” and i bought them in the “tall” section–they’re seriously long enough which is suuuuch a nice change from my floods. check THAT ONE off the resolutions list. next!

I love that you wrote a post about sweatpants. But on the real, those look SO COMFY. I think I need me a pair. So maybe I can stop walking the dog in my pajama pants. My bright pink with bows pajama pants. Meep.
ilene @ muchloveilly says
ha! i am the same way. when there is a piece of clothing that i am obsessed with, i try to intentionally rush the laundry so that i can get it on me again. and these sweats, i can see why that would be your issue as well. 🙂

This made me smile. 🙂 Thanks. I need to find a pair of good sweatpants, too… My figure + most sweats make me rear end look huuuuge :p, so I'm always on the hunt.

I just bought them in grey and black on your recommendation! I joke about putting on my "uniform" as soon as I get home from work. I'm sure my husband hates it, but at least these will be better than my oversized college sweatpants with bleach stains on the knees!
bridget says
i would've bought them in black except for GRACIE DOG HAIR. you'll love em.
kkp says
i so appreciate this honesty. 🙂 i wear yoga pants 99% of the time i'm home, and if i'm not in yoga pants, i'm in leggings trying to pass them off as pants.
Courtney says
any store that has a tall section is a win in my book – I often buy men's pjs bc they are long enough.
bridget says
i always used to do that!
Kate Harvey says
So cute! Did you buy your regular size or go up one? I'm 5'11" and love the idea of long-enough sweatpants!!
bridget says
actually, i bought one small and one medium and i love them both. both are long enough too.
Emily Baker says
love those socks too 🙂
Emily Burgess says
I have these same exact ones down to the color and have been in them for most of the past two weeks. As in I am wearing them now. And I am OK with this. They are the best thing that have happened to the lower half of my body in terms of pants!
Becca says
Yes! I have these in black and LOVE them. They are like "fancy sweats" if that's a thing.
bridget says
that's totally a thing. i agree. i have worn them out a few times – WHAT OF IT.
Michaela Jean says
Oh girl I know alllll about these sweatpants, and every word you said is the utter truth.

I just bought these on sale yesterday and I haven't taken them off since! Love love love!

I am OBSESSED with those sweatpants. In general, I only take them off to go to work. I've been telling everyone I know about how great they are; I'm glad you're spreading the word, too!

This is amazing, a post dedicated to sweatpants. You're my kind of lady Hunt!! And now I am off to purchase a pair or two for myself. My husband should be more than thrilled to see I switched it up a little…
Jennifer says
Dude I purchased those in early December + fell in love with them — and when you made an allusion a few posts ago to some sweatpants/pj pants that had rocked it like it's hot, I was all, "I wonder if she's referring to the power of the Old Navy drawstring pants?" Because, yes, I'm yet another who hasn't taken the blessed things off all month. Sometimes even not for work. They're The Awesome!
bridget says
they sew them with magic thread, i think.
seriouslysassymama.com says
I am so getting these. I hope they look as cute on a 5'4" frame with a booty.
Megan Davey says
I'm so glad sweat pants are in right now and there are so many cute/updated styles. I have been living in them or leggings on maternity leave…often leaving the house in them, and feel like I can dress them up a bit and they're socially acceptable… 😉 I have these ones too and like 10 other pairs of sweats – maybe I need to stop buying lounge wear. I will go back to work soon…

Love it. Really want to read the post on Uggs too 😉 You need to link it!
bridget says
i did! where it says "entire post" 🙂
Meghan says
I do the same thing… Sweatpants go on as soon as we get home! I'm convinced my one year old knows if I'm going out cause I put jeans on!
Theresa Sutton says
From one tall girl to another, I can completely understand your excitement when it comes to long sweatpants. The shorties in my life constantly complain about having to go get their pants hemmed if they're too long. Meanwhile, I'm like over here like "ummm if it don't fit, I just can't wear it."
The only stores that carry pants long enough for me are Victoria Secrets and New York and Company. I don't even look in other stores anymore. It's just pure torture…
Ashley says
I feel you on needing the tall pants. I'm not exceptionally tall (5'8"), but I have LONG legs and a short torso, so I need L-O-N-G pants. I've taken to ordering talls from Old Navy–and I think I have commented about that before–but I got fed up yesterday when I discovered the men's pants are $3-$5 cheaper! So now I am embracing a size down REGULAR in MEN'S. (I figure since their inseams are longer, it shall be okay. 🙂 Don't laugh and point at my man pants!
bridget says
can i laugh at this comment though cause i might be ashley.

I love the fact that you can write a post about sweatpants and still make it interesting!!!
bridget says
interesting is relative liz, but i THANK YOU ANYWAY.
Becky | Apples of Gold says
I can tell, just by looking at that photo, that those sweats are amazingful!
And they're extra long, too?
Even better!
I need a pair in my life.
Katie Pawlowski says
Yay to the long pants! I'm 5'10" and have also had to embrace men's pajama pants! But these look so cute–I may need a pair of "fancy". I also love target's yoga pants—they come in tall sizes!! (Champion and Merona?) It's the best!
Kendra Castillo says
I love that you did a whole post about sweats! My kinda gal 🙂
Susannah says
Bridget, I've been reading for maybe 18 months and it's slightly embarrassing that the first post I actually comment on is about sweatpants. I truly enjoy your thoughtful and heartfelt posts; your site has a homey feel to it, sweatpants or not. But WOW I saw this in my feed and started reading and thought, "is she talking about my Old Navy sweatpants?!" I bought a pair in November and I seriously wear them a disgusting amount of times before washing them. Also…I am 4'9" (and a half!) and have the hardest time with pajama pants dragging in pools around my feet. These are magic pants for short and tall alike. Thanks for your site!
Natasha says
I hightailed it to Old Navy last night when I saw this post. Bad news – Canada doesn't have the long ones. Good news – they regular ones were on clearance ($8…please don't try and guess how many I bought) and I'll re-cuff them to make them longer. Extra good news – I'm wearing them to work today. In an office. And I look hot. And feel cozy.
bridget says
i want to know how many you bought. spill it.
Natasha says
black, carbon, and oatmeal. FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $24.

Love. Another suggestion – I have M in light grey and am 5'7''

oh yes. those are great.

I own these exact sweat pants and I'm in LOVE with them.
Ahn says
i may or may not have just purchased two pairs.
Christina Schergen says
as a tall girl myself…it is hard finding cozy pants that are long enough..ya know that didn't come from my husbands side of the closet.
Anna-bird says
oh my gosh. I'm also 5'10" (as we've previously established), and just had a baby 5 days ago. I need these STAT.
bridget says
anna there was never anyone who needed them more than you do right now.
(and congraulations!)
Jordan Rose says
Awesome, love that you write about sweatpants. But seriously, so comfortable! I have a "fashionable" pair that I live in during the days-out of the house that is!
Erin Elizabeth says
I love these because they are "tall"! i am 5'9, and i always struggle with finding sweatpants that are long enough for me! and usually when they are long enough at purchase, they get washed a shrink a few inches 🙁 old navy for the win!
Carlee says
This is a bit late….but I too have discovered the beauty that is Old Navy Tall! I'm 6' and really never knew that pj pants could be long enough, ha. I've got some thermals, some other jersey pj pant and some different drawstring sweats from there and just LOVE them. Now I'm afraid I'll have to go seek these lovelies out!
*Btw, not sure if you have a hard time finding tops that fit right, but ON tall tops are spot on. I even get a size smaller in the tall size. They fit like gloves.
