Days when we’ve been housebound too long, I feel like my go-to is Concord. When the boredom and pajamas-too-many-days-in-a-row sets in… to Concord we go! We walked around (the neighborhoods just off the main part of town are some of the prettiest), had lunch at Helen’s, and then pulled out the umbrella to cover ourselves from the rain. A few hours was all we needed. The rain fell harder and faster and we made our way back to the car. It was a really nice few hours.
Do you have a go-to when you’re in need of a change-up? And, better yet, do you live in Massachusetts? I will always take more exploring ideas.
{Concord in March–with almost the same Main St. Market picture as the one in this post!}
I hear ya! I have to switch things up when they are getting a little stale. My lil 16 month old and I will venture out and drive over to a new neighborhood for a walk and to go explore their hangouts. Even just popping in a different coffee spot for me helps break the housebound blues
I feel ya!
We will be taking a trip into Boston this summer, and I had asked a fellow blogger who lives in the area for suggestions. On her list of places to visit was Concord! She said something about a bridge there…that it is a really nice place to see. Do you know of the bridge she was speaking about?
i think it must be south bridge?? i'm not that familiar with it but concord as a whole is awesome. such darling neighborhoods, incredible gorgeous old homes, and the whole of minuteman national park is great!
No, but I wish I lived there! Looks so quaint.
Um, I just died looking at that photo of Parker with that little umbrella. Adorable.
RIGHT?!?
The photo of P with the umbrella is magazine worthy! I die. 🙂
Under the tree this year were tix to Tanglewood for us and the in-laws, July 3rd!
And I hear that babies need tickets? that cost $1 or something?
Your Parker and my Izzy will have to meet if yall are there on the same night 🙂
i recall that! and yes, it being like one dollar!
is that the james taylor concert?!? what a good gift that is.
Yes, James Taylor 🙂
These are great pictures! And I love your outfit.
I love this. We are the same way, although, we take to nature and find local places to hike around. So great to get yourself and kids outside, even if for a bit.
So charming. Reminds me of the UK!
Great pictures, looks like such a cute place to spend the day. Parker's rosy cheeks are so adorable!
Concord is so picturesque! My go to when I lived in Mass and needed a change was Rockport, but I tired of it after a few years. I had the dreamiest trip to Concord with a class from college – the Thoreau cabin, the Emerson house, the Alcott House and dinner at a fancy restaurant courtesy of the philosophy dept. I'll never forget that day – it was those magic days that made me truly fall in love with Mass.
love days like that. concord is such a little massachusetts gem.
My first job in high school was waitressing at Helen's 🙂
too funny! great little place.
When we have to get out of the house I take the little man to the zoo only because we have a pass. when my husband is here we'll go to different places like downtown Tucson. We don't get weather like that around here. But I know that when he rains we make a trek out there to see that sun rain.
I live in CA so I don't see much rain. However, on spring days when I'm so sick of all the brown earth, brown plants, brown trees that I could scream, I drive the back roads to Ojai. The tiny town is picturesque with great art shops and restaurants. We always find things to do there. LOVE your photos.
my aunt lives in concord by emerson hospital. my family lives on seabrook beach. we love to go to kittery and eat at pig's fly for family friendly meals and drive back route 1 to see the homes and ocean. i think you're a fan of newburyport, too, like us. happy new year!
the homes along route 1 up there are soooo beautiful! love that drive.
Such a pretty place. We need to go hit up Concord. I feel like there's so much COOL STUFF around Boston and we barely see them! We need to remedy this.
oh oh I miss Concord!!!
