topsfield fair. what a crazy place.
the topsfield fair in cut off sentences and such, here we go:
it’s like an eye party, this fair. lights, colors, flashing, music, smells. goodness gracious. you can find everything there. animals! cows, baby goats, an elephant, roosters, ducks, baby chicks galore. we kept telling parker, “it’s ella the elephant!” or “pamela the camel!” bringing life to his favorite bill peet stories. the option to eat everything under the sun. loaded baked potatoes to lemonade to funnel cake to fried sweets to bbq. i even saw an ad for vegan tomato soup. going on the tilt-a-whirl with lindsey was a highlight. tilt-a-whirl is the best ride, i think. we laugh-screamed through most of it. we tried fried oreos. they were good but i still think i’d take a normal oreo over the fried variety. william rode the that huge swinging ship (see him up there?). used to be my favorite ride but i was too wussy for it now. there is a downside, however. the expense of it! they ain’t cuttin’ any deals here. we spent about $100 and did not go crazy whatsoever. the admission to get in, plus three rides, lemonade, and oreos and there you go. mostly fun, sort of crazy, and definitely pricey.
so, should you go? yeah. it’s something to see. but every year? nah.
and there you have it. the topsfield fair in a paragraph.
Amazing post 🙂 I am from Indian and I just discovered you lovely blog 😀 😀

Great photos! Seriously could not go on the ship- am happy to be a wuss.
feel the same way. i think last time i went was four years ago. i think next year will be an "on" year for me 😉
Looks like so much fun! That picture of Parker on William's shoulders…love, love, love….those two are just too sweet! And Lindsey, gah she is gorgeous! Last picture…fun!
that is my new favorite picture of w & p!
It looks like such a fun time! Fairs can be so expensive though. We went to one last month and spent more on food than anything else.
We went to our state fair last year & the year before. The first year we were flat broke so last year we decided we were going to go & have fun! We planned ahead & took about $150 – for two of us, that got us through the day, plus some. But, it is SO expensive! Definitely something fun but, we won't be going every year. However, all the pictures everyone is posting from the state fair right now are making me a wee envious. Happy Monday!
Poor elephant! I love fairs and the food and the lights, but that part makes me sad. Also yes, was it always this expensive?!
the elephant made me sad too 🙁
yeah! this is my first time in ten years, but it's always pretty pricey!
I love everything about this post:)
Oh how I love a good Fair! Personally I am all about the animal barns and the deep fried everything, but my kids love the carnival. It looks like an amazing time!
the farm animals were the best part. forget the rest of it, gimme the petting zoo! (baby goats. you know.)
definitely better as a treat every few years. you need time to look forward to things like fried oreos right?

You capture the most beautiful moments in your pictures! And an elephant at the fair? Interesting. But it looks like you guys had so much fun!!
Adorable pictures except that elephant, I hate it! What a miserable life he must lead. The fried oreos however…!!!
agreed. i really, really hope he gets a lot of love–maybe that's wishful thinking.
we didn't ride him!
that picture of you and parks in b&w…FRAME IMMEDIATELY.
WONT DO IT. just cause you said so!
These photographs really capture the night! well done 🙂 I love them all!
okay. you in that hat. seriously beautiful. And where is Parker's toque from? love it.
parker's came from target! men's section!
(and thanks heather!!)

We went too this year. Decent time, great fair food 😉
If you're ever up at the Lake over Columbus Day Weekend you should check out the Sandwich Fair… it's not huge but very family friendly & not super expensive
