the weather lately can change a good twenty degrees from morning till evening. sometimes more! or the house feels chilly and you step outside and discover, but always too late, that it’s actually quite warm and those leggings that are definitely a necessity as the dress you’re wearing is too short are now too much, too warm. you’re that girl dressing like fall but wondering if those around you are thinking, “really boots-girl, really? are you sure we’re there yet?” as they flip-flop around in shorts. that was me last night. but, my parents were in town for a hot second as they returned from a sailing trip in camden, maine (retirees… they suck.) and we ended up meeting them and my sister’s family for dinner on the water well into the evening. so, bam, i ended up being grateful for my not-quite-summer-but-not-yet-fall attire (that last phrase makes me think of britney’s i’m not a girl not yet a woman, by the way). i can’t say the look was nailed, but close? i will say, however, that i’m obsessed with the print on this dress. and it’s on sale!
Last Sunday it was rainy and cool when we left for church, me in my boots! When we left church it was sunny and warm. I totally jumped the gun on that one, but I don't regret it!
YES. that was me this day. but when it got cold i was all GENIUS, bridget.
LOVE that dress…so super cute on you!!! Happy Monday!
love the boots and the dress. bring it on fall!

cute!
graet idea, love this. If only CA weren't still a thousand degrees…ugh.
I love your dress, it looks adorable!
Love that dress! Can I ask how tall you are? I get nervous ordering things online when they could be on the short side, but I think we might be close-ish in height 🙂

i'm 5'10" – it wasn't totally scandalous wearing it without tights buuuuut i preferred it with something underneath!
So am I…thanks for the breakdown 🙂

This is totally cute!! I am on the hunt for incredibly warm tights for the fall/winter. Any suggestions?
these are actually leggings from h&m – but i usually have success at places like asos or uo! or even target!
Not to highjack this comment, but there's a brand called Plush that makes fleece-lined tights that totally changed my life (exaggeration much?). They're a little spendy but really worth it if you live somewhere frigid! 🙂
i knew there was something out there like it, so thank you for the info!
Summer into fall dressing is some of the hardest, but isn't it satisfying when you get it right?
super cute dress! i am obsessed with dresses this year…looks like i might have to do some asos shopping 🙂
Babe. Nah but freal wearing tights with my summer dresses makes it all good.
I geared up in fall clothes too this weekend. We were camping in Vermont and the boots came out. And I think I got the same look about the boots…oh well!
I love this. And I have yet to give into fall cause its reeeedic to do so here in the Carolinas until mid-Oct… but I may have popped out my boots this weekend too. I feel better about myself and my choices seeing Bridget Hunt did it too. 😉
you and me, wearin' boots in hot weather.
beautiful shots- framers if you will.
you look adorable! love this look.
This is why I love dresses! You can so easily wear them all year round by just throwing on some leggings and boots!
amen (i do that often. summer clothes all year round!)
You look amazing and I think you defiantly nailed it. But I totally know what you mean being the girl wearing boots already!
You are seriously the cutest. I have been reading your blog for a few months now and like you more and more. What a precious blessing you are to your husband and kids.
thank you so much!! that's so sweet of you to say!
Love. Your hair is amazing.
Love the outfit! I would have never thought to pair a summer dress with leggings and boots. Tomorrow's outfit? Done! I was also asking myself it it was boots time yet. Is it? Isn't it? Thanks for the answer! 🙂
all in a day's work 😉
You look stunning in the first photo. Seriously!!!
Ah! You look so pretty in these pictures (I mean, you always do) – the colors are gorgeous, especially with the background. And rosy cheekse – beautiful! The boots are great, who cares. I did see a girl wearing Uggs yesterday though…IN JERUSALEM. That was uncalled for.
NO. i don't know exactly what it's like in jerusalem right now but i know it's not uggs weather.
your legs go on for daaaays!

Cutie!
Gorgeous captures! Love your style lady.
you never overdo it. always awesome and lovely. gonna go ahead and admit that i pin all of your outfit posts, i just can't help it.
Your dress is lovely! A black blazer (especially with 3/4 length sleeves) would also look cute. But the pattern is almost too wonderful to cover at all!
I always feel so funny leaving comments on your blog because you don't know me from Adam. But whatever. You and your new long hair = gorgeous. It just had to be said. I mean, short hair looks great on you, but long is so becoming (do people even use that word anymore?).
lara, you're so nice! thanks for the hair-love. i like it long too!
