i don’t go craaaaaazy over that many desserts. i can count on one hand how many sweets really wow me. overall, i’m savory over sweet. but… i looooove key lime pie. like so much that i want to swear when i eat it. that buttery crust and the tangy key lime filling?! STOP. i love chocolate hΓ€agen dazs ice cream. it is actually distracting when it’s in the house (until i finish it). trader joes dark chocolate covered pretzel slims? don’t even get me started. i ate a whole bag in one day two weeks ago. as you can see, when i really like something, i go a little overboard so it’s really best that i not like too many of these things and/or keep them in the house at all times. nevertheless, my recent trader joes trips have included the above. dip the shortbread into the lemon curd. ohhhhhhh my worddddd. if you’re a key lime pie fan, you will love this. i could not stop singing its praises in the kitchen when steve was all, “let me try” and he was totally underwhelmed so maybe if you’re not a key lime pie fan, this isn’t for you either. but hot damn, it is so stinking delicious. (thanks jessica!)
now for some other, completely unrelated, favorites:
this etsy shop. i seriously want everything in it. starting with this, ending with this, and everything she sells in between. it is a seriously great shop. i sort of can’t stop looking. i want to stamp brown wrapping paper, walls in my house, and plain tee-shirts and leggings. give me all the stamps! (and i am dreaming up something custom in the future!)
i really want to make these turkey meatballs for dinner soon. and, is it too much to ask that i just have the opportunity to switch lives with gp for a little while? just a day or so?
have you seen all the new items in elizabeth’s shop??? this deer crib sheet is amazing.
this instagram user may have the coolest pictures ever. food art! like legit ART. see some here. (thanks ashley!)
i’ve started reading this book and so far find myself nodding my head a lot as well as jotting in the margins and underlining things. it’s nice to find a book like that. (steve saw him speak at a bar in boston last year and really enjoyed it.) i’m sure i’ll talk more about this in the future but until then, here’s a trailer that gives you a little bit more info on the book.
i really want diner mugs for my house. plain old no nonsense diner mugs. these ones are perfect. (thanks fran!)
when i saw this house (it was a tweet at some point!), i was quite convinced that i am living in the wrong area. that house would easily sell for $1 million in some areas close by. in conclusion? we’re packing up and moving to phoenix. (check out the backyard!)
this is such a pretty etsy shop. i am getting more into plants these days though i’m still definitely into low maintenance ones. i think these may fit the bill? the mini pod ones are so great.
i want to paint our living room gray. it’s a warm yellow right now and it’s been that since we moved in and i’m over it. do you have any gray recommendations since there’s about a million out there? (i’ve been dreaming about it since this post. this house, and the color of its walls, is perfection. and it is still my favorite kid’s room to date.)
summer’s blog is one of my favorites lately. her food posts always have me thinking outside the box and, literally, always learning something i didn’t previously know (like the difference between grade a and b maple syrup!).
boom, that is all.
(and tomorrow will appaaaarently be in the low to mid 70s here tomorrow so i will a) believe it when i see it and b) be outside all day long.)
and ps! my embedded comment thread has been janky. back to the pop-up window for now… sorry if you’ve had troubles in the past!

Just found the perfect grey and painted out sunroom from bright yellow to it. Its so lovely. I looks more taupe in the photos and in the bucket but it goes on the PERFECT GREY. Not purple, blueish, pink ish, brown ish…grey. Benjamin Moore – Revere Pewter
bridget says
@tessa, i just google imaged it and LOVE IT. i may need to give it a try. thank you!

Yesterday I was talking about how I would be fine to never eat another Biscoff cookie for as long as I live, and the woman I was flying with said, "But have you tried it with lime yet?"
And apparently some genius flight attendant somewhere squeezed lime all over it and it tastes JUST LIKE KEY LIME PIE.
I DIE FOR KEY LIME PIE.
I am going to have to try your concoction soon, lemon curd is too good to pass up. Sometimes when I eat those Walker cookies I feel like my face smells like old butter the rest of the day. Thinking that's not normal.
{annie_loo} @ The Farrar Four says
Now I must buy rubber stamps. Of all kinds. And all ink colors. Thanks.
bridget says
@fran, HA. old butter face smell.
biscoff cookies got nothing on walker shortbreads. try it now.
@annie, right? me too. steve is sooooooooo delighted i found this etsy shop as you can imagine.
Catherine Short says
I totally get you on TJ dark chocolate pretzel slims. Those are literally heaven in a bag. I like to use the lemon curd on blueberry scones!

I can't believe this is the first comment I'm leaving you! I've been reading your blog for at least a year or two now, and find you to be so refreshing and real. Love your posts on homeopathy, and in general I just think you are smart and funny. Keep up the good work! I'm commenting because the world of gray paint is intimidating (seriously- a lot of it ends up looking too blue or lavender) and I found some great ones via Emily Henderson's blog. This post is great- tons of recommendations AND pics of Ryan Gosling- what more could you want? Here is the link

I did my bedroom in gray owl and it's the perfect lovely-soft-mellow gray. Hope you find something you like π
Amber says
Just painted our living room gray and loving it. The paint is just a cheap brand from the local hardware store– I think the color was called Fog Mist. It definitely has some blue undertones.
Shelby Meyer says
That is an awesome house… and for that price? I might have to fight you for it. Just don't move to Phoenix in August [like we did]. one step out of the moving truck and I almost moved right back to where I left.
Kate {motleymama.com} says
I want to read that book!
Amy says
Hmm, somehow Walker's shortbread & lemon curd found their way into my cart at TJ's tonight. Weird. :o)
bridget says
@kate, I think it'd be right up your alley, my friend.
@amy, how strange! (and tell me what you think!!)
bridget says
@unknown, THANK YOU for that link!!! at least two colors there are serious contenders!!
@shelby Meyer, seriously! the price is ridiculous!!
Kaity says
things like this make me really, REALLY wish I could access a Trader Joe's. booo Alabama… any chance you're willing to mail a girl some shortbread and lemon curd? π
also, old butter face? literally made me just laugh out loud.
bridget says
@kaity, it is so good that yes you DO need to try it and yes i WOULD send you some. email me your address.

gray paint recs: get a TON of samples. I drove Kurt crazy but seriously, depending on the lighting "gray" can be anything from purple to green to blue to white. I was legit friends with the paint counter when we finally found one we liked. We used Behr paint – something with the word silver in it I believe. ALSO, if you like it and can't seem to make it work – change out the lightbulbs…light is such a game changer with gray paint.

Love this post. My fav site was the restaurant supply shop. I need some spoons, just plain old cheap spoons bc mine seem to disappear. Those mugs are great too. Love those thick diner mugs. We painted pretty much all the bedrooms in our house gray owl by Benjamin Moore. It's a great color. It's definitely not a dark gray, more of a subtle gray, and it lends a tiny bit blue in certain lights (but better than purple as some grays do). Anyway, for what it's worth π
Anna Louisa says
Having gone through the great grey search (without getting a divorce, which seemed possible at points) I have to say getting 4-5 samples seems to be the best way to go. Some that looked beautiful in the store looked wonky on our walls, and others changed drastically with the morning vs. evening light. Also, I'm on track for finishing one of the TJ chocolate slims bags in 2 days, so it's nice to have solidarity π

everyone teases me for loving shortbread cookies, but they're soooo overlooked! people underestimate their goodness. i can't even imagine how amazing they'd taste with the lemon–i LOVE key lime pie. mm mm mm.

Um, yes. I want that house too. Oh. My. Gosh. Perfection! haha.

@kristyn, i agree wholeheartedly on the shortbread front. i love it. they were some of my fave girl scout cookies growing up too!
@anna louisa, it sounds like i have my work cut out for me! i think steve's staying out of this project so hopefully no divorce π
bridget says
@sarah, i love that color!! thank you!
@maggy, change them out… for what other type of lightbulb exactly? tell me thy ways!
The Westbys says
I just painted (almost) my entire downstairs in silver sage by restoration hardware. It has blue tones so maybe not what you are looking for but I needed them because flat gray in the Pacific Northwest is a no go with our limited sun. http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1161246 Also, you probably know this but buy a sample of the expensive stuff and then have it color matched at home depot/lowes!
Chanele Eichbauer says
I'm definitely going to Trader Joes and trying the short bread cookies and lemon curd. For some reason in the warmer months I don't want chocolate.
Have you tried Ciao Bella's Key Lime Graham Gelato Squares? They are amazing. Basically an ice cream sandwich. You can find them at Target, if you're interested:)

YES pretty plant Etsy shop. Once we move, I'm going to order all the things from there.
As for a really pretty grey, I love the color in this house: http://www.stylemepretty.com/2012/09/23/smp-at-home-kitchen-tour-from-hey-gorgeous-events/
I'm sure the fact that she's a brilliant event planner and has it set up better than I could ever hope to style my house helps make the paint look awesome, but it is. It's Benjamin Moore "Stormy Monday

Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray. Holy crimololy, I want to crawl inside this paint and hug it. It's an elegant, complex, not-too-green/blue/yellow/brown/light/dark, gorgeous color. Ahhhhhh.
Erin Ward says
Those shortbread cookies look A-mazing. Anything that says "pure butter" in the title has got to be good.
Alyson McMahon says
Oh yes. TJ's lemon curd is amazing. I'll have to try it with shortbread though. I'm a big key lime & lemon bar far.. so that might be a dangerous treat for me. π
Creatiate is amazing! One of my favorite shops for sure. I use a stamp I have from her in my shop packaging!
Marshall says
ahhh THANK YOU for sharing Elizabeth's shop! I'd never seen it before and I am in love. You are right — those deer sheets are AMAZING! If we find out we're having a boy I'm a gettin those.

Also, shut the front door. Thank you for sending traffic to my shop π
Britney says
Did anyone get the address of that house? Or save the pictures from it? I was trying to show my husband today and the listing has been removed, ahh. We're renovating a house and I wanted to use some of those images as inspiration and now I can't find it!
bridget says
@britney, SHOOT!! no, i don't remember the address – only the phoenix part. GAH. maybe if you search houses in the phoenix area (on another real estate website) for $325k and including a pool, you'll find it?
