parts 1 and 2 of the lake are posted and the vacation is over. it’s a rude awakening that steve had to go back to work as soon as we returned and that the temperatures have felt a bit on the cooler side too. september wants to rip the band-aid RIGHT OFF now doesn’t it?!
but, back to the lake for a moment… steve’s family–cousins and parents–were with us for the first half of our time there and then my parents were there for the second. his parents also celebrated 55 years of marriage while there. happy anniversary you two! we love you! (they’re the lovely couple you see in the fifth picture down.)
it was a really nice time. spent with family and gorgeous surroundings. really, what more can you ask for? we’re grateful for our time there and our good health and our many loved ones. grateful, indeed.
and that does it.
oh! parker took his first few steps while there one morning! it was dang cute if i do say so myself.

Looks like a great trip!
Way to go Parker on his first few steps! 🙂 How exciting!
these are so great! there is nothing like summers at the lake — I spent mine on lake michigan growing up. a little different than lake winnipesaukee, but perfection nonetheless.
What a fun time! It looks like you guys had a really nice time. I'm jealous of the fall weather you're having. It's still sunny, hot and summer here in CA.
Parker is walking! when did he get so old? 😉
I love the grandpa shirt – My dad would die (in a good way).
Love that picture of you two lovebugs kissing while skiing. Such skill! 🙂
looks like you had an amazing trip. and for the grandparents to join you, nothing better!
That sounds do perfect. Glad you guys had a great summer vacay. And dang, Steve in the stripes with the beard!!! Hottie husband!
Love these photos! It's the epitome of summer vacation and family love. Hooray for Parker's first steps!
I invite myself to vacation with you next summer. Thanks!
Love the pic of Steve and Parker in their little striped shirts and windblown hair! Lindsey (or is it Lindsay?) has some great freckles!! Love the grandpa. I love grandparents.
great photos-looks like a great trip. going back to work is going to hurt…I understand
well isn't this just america in a blog post. you guys are too gorgeous.
i gotta get me there. so many framers in these two posts!
I love the contrast between your face and Parker's in that one! You're all happy finger-gun, and he's all "Yes. That's my mom. Thanks for the sympathy."
Is Parker a redhead? His hair deserves its own blog post!
Also, I'm so curious – are life jackets not always worn on boats in the NE? I see the kids in them in some pictures, not others. I was always raised (in CA and MN) with, "You will wear your life jacket or DIE!" So I'm just curious if it's not such a big deal there.
@erin, i can't decide what parker's hair is! it's got some reddish in it but then got pretty blonde towards the end of the summer… time will tell.
on lifejackets… under 12 must wear them– we bend the rules when the boat's stopped and we're just sitting while kids jump on and off.
that's so exciting, yay parker!
So great.
Love that very last photo.
Saw the lifejacket question…my older kids (13 & 11) HATE me because I don't care what the law says, I will make them wear a life jacket or life belt until they are 18 while on the lake. That water is nasty and if something were to happen, I would NEVER be able to find them.
love your hat! I've loved your instagrams of your time on the lake. Such fun!
Ummm…who's the hottie with the scruff?! 😉
Love all the pics!! Glad you had a nice time 🙂
looks like a great time!!
I loved all your vacation pics (here and on instagram)! I also love your blog in general. I nominated you for a Liebster Blog–check it out here: http://thentherewaswe.blogspot.jp/2012/08/liebster-blog.html
