lindsey played the part of laura ingalls wilder at school. it was actually seriously cool. i walked into the classroom to all the students in a circle, frozen in a certain position. they were dressed for the part (from harriet tubman, to jfk jr., to harry houdini…). to hear a short bio on the person, you walked up to their desk and pushed a button. they unfroze, gave their bio, sat down, and froze again in the same position as before. i loved it. jordan went to the prom! he and his date looked fabulous (i loved her dress), and the day was perfect for it. it was, of course, before the rain came and stayed for multiple days in a row (good news though… looks like it’s clearing out today!). we took william and lindsey out of school for a day and met up with friends of ours in boston (including rachael!). we walked all around beacon hill, hearing bits and pieces of its history from a friend of ours who knows it like the back of his hand.
and then… came the rains.
i wore a sweater! bleck! when we’ve already had 90 degree weather, it feels altogether wrong and strange to be pulling a sweater over my head… and i took the kids to the library (parker remained in pajamas for like 48 hours straight). we did some reading, lindsey did some more farm-planning, and steve took a few naps with the little boy. i love catching them napping.
and that’s the latest around the hunt house.
ok at first glance, before i read… i could understand why lindsey's peers gave her a 3. but then i was like ohhhhhh…
we've got the rains now. it looks like they are here to stay, and i'm enjoying them. for now. doesn't feel like june in florida one bit. which is good.
ugh, my office and my in-laws keep the AC CRANKED. It has been in the 80's for weeks and I am still in sweaters all day. As someone who thrives on sunshine,it makes me seriously cranky.
I love those sleeping pics!
The Hunt men know how to find the ladies, that's all I'm saying. You just keep a good eye on Parker when he goes to preschool, okay?
Those sleeping pictures and library in jammies?! Stop.
such sweet photos! looks like a cozy time in the hunt house.
my fav is parker looking up at steve. kinda makes me wish i had babies again. but just for a second.
send some of that rain and cool weather our way please we still don't have AC (haven't had the new one put in since the flood last summer, i know we are on the ball like that.)
What a great week! It's so late in the year for prom, I'm shocked! They both looked fantastic. 🙂
that picture of your boys sleeping with parker in the red stripes. i mean, seriously. there should be a warning label.
Always love reading your blog; your family is wonderful! Boston is one of my favorite cities. My boyfriend is from there, so every trip we make up from NYC is special. Looks like you guys had a great time. And prom! Oh, what fun memories.
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
Love that Parker went to the library in PJ's and slippers… I took Vaughn grocery shopping in PJ's and got some sideways looks. Eff em! lol
I love when our kids school does the "living museum". My daughter was Dr. Suess when she did hers. Beard and all. LOL.
I wish I could stay in jammies sometimes! 🙂
Looks like some fun times! Love Parker in his PJs. Seriously, why isn't that okay–it's the cutest thing ever and it's what they are most comfy in!
I remember my brother's English class doing that back in high school. I've always thought it was a great idea. Back when i thought I would become a teacher, it was in my little notebook of ideas.
My bro was jerry garcia. 😉
I love these happenings. I love how your photos are a candid look into your life. Very sweet.
Bridget, the third graders at my school do the exact same thing that Lindsey did– they call it "The Wax Museum". I love that she was Laura Ingalls. So awesome!!
Also, love that pic of the kids walking up (or down?) Acorn Street. Too good.
And that ic of Parker in his jammies at the library? I can't even.
Love these lately posts. A LOT.
🙂
We have the rain as well–I am bored of it now.
I love these photos particularly the one of Steve and Parker sleeping–so cute.
the picture of Parker sleeping on Steve? could it be any sweeter?!
and the pj picture at the library…love.
Do your kids go to a year-round school?
I love the library picture with Parker in his pj's. Too freaking cute!
First glance at the pictures, I was thinking, Dang, Lindsey has taken this farmgirl thing and made it a reality.
The one of Parker looking up at Steve? Melt.
@alice, nope! last day of school is next week!!
So jealous that Lindsey got to play Laura. I STILL want to play Laura. I was obsessed when I was a kid and I actually got grounded from watching Little House. The one show I was allowed to watch I was grounded from because I allegedly walked around the house acting like Laura (feeling sorry for myself, dramatic, wore a bonnet everywhere, carried a slate and lunchpail….). Shhheeesh. I suppose insisting that my Dad call me Half Pint pushed my family over the edge?
i did that too, in elem. school! we called it a wax museum. i actually think i was LIW, too. 99% sure. mostly because i was obsessed with little house on the prairie in that time.
and parker's library outfit is kil-ling me.
i love all these pictures! especially the napping and parker in his jams.
and Jordan's date's dress is seriously awesome!
prom! bonnets! sleeping babies! love it all… xx
Parker-butt in jammies at the library needs to go on the sidebar, or something. It's the cutest. Hey! good weather this weekend! Hooray.
my kids go from end of august until the end of may. so it threw me off that they are still in class! lol. I really want a year-round school or to be able to homeschool. haha!
Parker is getting so BIG! I love the Lindsey's class project. That sounds so cool, and I bet the class loved it!
The father/son sleepy pictures are priceless – i'm sure your heart just melts!! 🙂
Not that I should have even noticed, but I think your hubby looks cute scruffy. If we ever meet in real life I'll be embarrassed that I told you so. 🙂 That prom dress IS sweet. Those jammies at the library are too. I still have a hard time grasping that "prairie living" wasn't all that long ago. I don't think I could have survived. I am grateful for so many modern advances. Like indoor plumbing and auto-timers on coffee pots. Hope you have another fun week in photos. I love them. Even if we never meet. Thanks for being an awesome blogger.
SLEEPING PHOTOS! GAH!
