i loooove maxi dresses. and skirts for that matter. if you’ve been hanging around this blog long enough, you already know that. they’re so versatile, comfortable, and can be both casual and chic if i do say so myself. there aren’t too many pieces of clothing that work for the beach and a dinner party alike. right? well, here are some pretty ones i’ve seen in and around the web. that gap polka-dotted one is so cute and number 7?! with a bump?! get outta town. also, number 8 is easy and breezy and i do like it quite a bit as well.
well, that’s it. if you don’t have any of these, get some. ok?
also, parker and i are flying to nj today for my pop-pop’s funeral. it’s not till this weekend but we’re getting some good family time in too. send us good travel thoughts, would ya? i’ll try to get a few other posts in this week.

i m loving maxi dresses too! i have yet to own one (i know crazy!) but am on the prowl for one! i like #4!
I love maxi dresses too! I have the gap one but purple stripes instead of polka dots!
You'll do great traveling Bridget! Safe and happy travels to you and Parker!
Also – how do you handle wearing a bra with some of these style dresses? Especially with nursing. I always see cute maxis and then feel like it would be a waste to get them because my big nursing bra straps would be hanging out. I need your secrets.
I am in NJ, where are you heading?
Travel safe! Enjoy you time with your family & the opportunity to celebrate you're grandfather! I LOVE Maxi dresses too; I just feel like they look silly on me because I am short. And crazy things is that I have seen other shorter women wearing them and I think that they look great. I need to get over it and buy one.
@ladylee, i guess i'd wear a tanktop underneath it with thicker straps to hide the bra?
@kimberly, southern nj! near the shore!
@tanya, yes! get over it and buy one – they are the best. you can find some seriously cheap ones at f21–like i'm talking $15–so it's not a big investment if you end up hating it!
I actually love maxi dresses too, but I've never bought one! Crazy, right? I just have really (and I mean really) long and awkward legs, it's hard to find one that fits!
I have the F21 lace trimmed dress. At $15, it would have been a sin NOT to buy it! I think it came in a couple different colors but I got the navy one. I added a skinny red belt and loved it!
I'm loving the maxi dresses! They are my latest obsession. Of course being quite petite it's hard to find one that actually fits without being hemmed, but when I do I jump on it! So far I've found 3 and I'm still on the hunt for more!

Ooh, I'm the exact same. I'm obsessed with Maxi dresses! They're just so easy and versatile! I hope you and Parker have safe travels.
I want that Gap one, but in the solid colors. Like…every single solid color. Need 'em. Wish I still worked there dangit.
I am super digging 6 and 7.
Have a good time on your trip…and soak up lots of good family stories about your pop pop. Those are the best.
I love a good maxi dress too! LOVE me a long dress!
I'm actually making and selling some now! Business has really taken off! Aparently everyone else likes the maxi trend as well! 🙂
Take a look and see what you think!

Enjoy your trip home with the family! There's nothing like family time!!!!
i'm only 5'2, but i adore maxi dresses. the challenge is finding one the right length!!
Your long and lithe body goes so well with maxi dresses. I love them, also, even though I'm short and a little stocky. I love how they feel at my ankles.
My condolences to you. Hope you travel safely.
I am definitely getting on board with with maxi dress. With baby #2 on the way, I love that they are in style! Great for maternity and can still wear before or after too! So comfy. You picked out some cute ones!
Looking at the maxi dresses reminds me that the seasons are changing and soon I am going to be in winter woolies!!!
Safe travels and may God hold you and your family close during this sad time!!!
Ok, I am in Northern Jersey!
Ooh, I love a good maxi dress. They are so adorable, and practical all at the same time. I love your finds. Good luck with your travels. Enjoy the time you have with family. Xo
being as im going to pregnant all summer i think i need to stock up! love the gap polka dotted one.
I just purchased my first maxi dress ever. And my husband loved it (as did I). Now I'm on the lookout for other patterns. 🙂
I adore all of these dresses! Not to mention they are all budget friendly. Great picks!

I love maxi dresses!! But I'm little (5ft 3 and a half (the half is VERY important)) so I just don't think I can pull off anything past mid-calf 🙁
Have a great time with your family!! I will be thinking of you at your pop-pop's funeral. My grandaddy died last month and it. sucks. Love and best wishes!!
Love me some maxis as well. Do you wear tube maxi skirts? Possibly my new favorite thing.
Sorry about your pop-pop 🙁

I just made myself a maxi dress like #4 but I must have had too many gathers in front – everyone from my husband to my best friend says it looks like a maternity gown and that I'm 4 months along (which I am not! LOL) Any hints for not looking prego in a maxi dress?
Sorry to hear about your pop pop. Enjoy NJ and family. I was just there yesterday for a sweet little newborn shoot.
Love a good maxi dress. Number 7 is really pretty.
@trina, i'd put a belt around it at the skinniest part of your waist to avoid the prego look!! 🙂
I love all of these!!! As soon as the weather gets nice I am going to live in maxi dresses. I am so over my hand me down maternity clothes
So many summer’y outfits and cute options here. But what I did enjoy is the way you’ve pieced and put all those photos together. Awesome collections!
