well, it’s safe to say valentine’s day with a baby who’ll be almost seven months old will be… low-key. i promised william and lindsey we’d make chocolate covered strawberries and i might take a crack at this crock-pot chocolate lava cake (sugar-overload!) but beyond that, i think we’ll be chilling out here, perhaps opening a bottle of prosecco (martinelli’s sparkling cider for the kids!), and cuddling up together. i’m still not really into leaving parker. i’ve only done so to go to the grocery store three times in his life. you might be thinking i’m crazy and even i keep wondering if this is unusual, but nevertheless, i know myself and, with that, i know that i won’t totally let loose and have fun on a date with steve. i’ll be missing my little bud. eventually, i’ll have to, but since i don’t want to now, why force it?
nevertheless, i can imagine what i would wear if i were going out for valentine’s day. i think the 5th dress would have to be mine. i’d wear my hair down and sort of wavy, perhaps do a nude pump (or those teal pumps below!) like the model, a smoky eye, and some thin gold bangles on my wrist. we’d go out dancing, drink margaritas, and eat mexican. i know mexican doesn’t really scream romantic, but we love it. and then we’d come home and, well, i’ll stop there because that part of the date might actually happen.
get your mind out of the gutter! i meant we’d eat the chocolate covered strawberries we made earlier in the day!

I'm sure you'll have just as much fun staying home. It doesn't matter what you do as long as you're with your love. 🙂

i would do the 5th one too- very chic. Leaves the after dinner plans up to imagination more:) This past week Wyatt and I had a fabulous at-home date after all the kids were in bed. Idea for you guys maybe? We'll probably be doing the same the night of. Plus we're both scrooges about having to reserve a v-day table either a month in advance, or wait 3 hours. Our darling neighbor kids sent out an email telling all the adults that they would take ALL (everyone's) kids on the 10th for a Superhero party night while the adults celebrated for Valentine's Day. How cool, and sweet is that? We'll take them on it. This is a really long comment… would you also like to know details of what we're doing for St. Patty's day too? President's Day?
Elizabeth says
Total gutter mind over here.
I'm thinking about stealing a date idea from my friend…they go to my favorite restaurant every Valentines, but that would be weird, no?
"HEY, you're here too? We'll just be over here ignoring you behind this potted plant."
Ana Degenaar says
I love this ideas! SO cute.
lady lee says
I'll probably be in robebear.
Julie says
Just think, you've got a brand new Valentine to love this year!
Lauren Vaughan says
the skirt in number 2 is just so cute! normally i dont like that style but this one is nice 🙂
Jessie says
Love your style choices!! Dress number 1 is awesome, conservative and sexy in one.
It's funny that everyone is posting about Valentine's day already… Feb 1st and that's the first thing on everyone's mind. 😉
Here's my plans!

i love the font that you used for the words "valentine's day" – would you share the typeface?
and i for one think mexican is romantic. i mean, shoving chips in your face? total turn-on.
bridget says
@elz, it's called clipper script! and i feel the same way about chip-shoving. hot.
@yourstruly, i want all the deets! and that is seriously sweet. did the kids come up with that themselves?
Loralei says
Why not still have your "date" at home? Mexican food, margaritas (virgin for the kids), dancing in the kitchen, even dress up if you want, too? My husband and I used to do this for New Year's Eve. (Now we are too old to be bothered!) You are such a romantic, go for it!
Alexandria says
#4 is gorgeous and I need it in my life. You're making my whole "no spending unnecessary money" thing very difficult, you know…
Dancing Branflake says
I am having a group of friends come over for sweet treats and laughter. I love Vday but I love my friends more (husbands are included!)
Kacey says
You could have your date at home and let Parker be a part of it – he is your little love, after all!
I actually haven't even thought about V-day yet – but my hubby is one who thinks it's all commercialized and silly, so there's never much excitement on that day for me!
Lottie says
Mexican food screams romantic to me–but then I might just be weird, and a total mexican food fanatic–we have had some good times in mexican restaurants!
Alice says
My son is almost 2 and he has didn't stay overnight with a family member (my grandparents) until he was 16 months old. I have separation anxiety! HAHA! Hope you have a great date in.

Five and Eight would definitly be my pick! Since my boyfriend lives an hour and a half away to go to school, and he's got a crazy amount of work to do that week, we're planning on celebrating the weekend before by going to see The Artist! Low budget for us college students!
Ahn says
No, you meant boning. Nice try.
And if you don't bone that hottie on vday something is very wrong in the world.
Emily Baker says
bahahaha. NICE. I don't blame you for not wanting to leave parker. I can't imagine how difficult that first step can be…
My boyfriend and I are taking a weekend trip up to Portsmouth, NH for the weekend!!
Jen | Our Happy Family says
Love those shoes!! I'm the same way with not wanting to leave my babies, I mean they're only babies once you know? So we usually have Valentine's Day at home… put the kids down early with their own movie night, then we have takeout and watch a movie and go from there 🙂
Megan Stilley says
I am one of those that can't leave her baby. I have to for school for a few hours a week but I really hate it.
Lauren says
This is such a great post! I may have to do a vday fasion post myself (if you don't mind)!
And chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate lava cake sound AH-MAZ-ING! Great idea!

yes! We just got an email from them (and it was worded funny, so I know it was from the kids). It was so darling- they said they wanted to give us a Valentine treat by having a Superhero themed playdate night. Complete with super activites, and super good food, is what they said. I'm stoked, and so it Tate! I thought it was such a good idea, and will keep it in mind when Tate is old enough to babysit. That's such a great way for your kids to learn service, and for sure EVERYONE will fall in love with your kids for a service like that:)
emma says
you should make some yummy mexican food at home! i love nights in. we are going to dinner at our favorite restaurant and then i'm forcing my hubby to take me to see the movie The Vow. it's going to be so fun! ha!

leave it you ahn to write boning in her comment…love her!
I would totally go for #5 and maybe I even will!
Rebeka says
You crack me up. All the time. I don't know how you do it.
Skirt #2 is mine. I'm calling dibs.
And, yeah you'll eat those chocolate covered strawberries. Naked. #truestory
brittany says
oooh, i love that #2 skirt. that is sex-ay!
Tara says
Oh! It's so great to hear that you've yet to leave Parker much! I've been feeling guilty for only leaving my almost 4 month old once (with my mom when my husband and I took a trip to the post office – HOT!). We came back 30 minutes later and she was sobbing – my daughter, not my mom 🙂 – and I haven't wanted to do that to her again.
