hey guys,
i’m taking over today cause my mom said something about being really tired cause i turned 4 months old and am less predictable and don’t nap as easy and something like that? i don’t know what she’s talking about but i did see her adding books on babies and sleeping to her amazon cart like a crazy person. she’s a fool. i don’t sleep cause i don’t wanna sleep! no books are gonna change me. i gotta keep this mama on her toes… heard her saying i’m all well-behaved and stuff. can’t let her get too comfortable. who does she think she is? anyway, i told her i’d take the blog for the day and let her chill. but, as soon as i sign off, ima give her a piece of my mind. i mean, she didn’t have me so she could sleep did she? she’s got another thing coming.
catch ya on the flip side,
parker

Parker is the coolest kid on the block. Too cool for naps. Too cool for everythang.

This is too funny! My baby girl just turned six months and after sleeping through the night starting at ~8 weeks, she no longer wants to sleep through the night. I'm reading the books too! Good luck!
bridget says
@paige, why must kids hate sleeping so?! and us adults can't get enough of it! when will they learn?! SLEEP IS AWESOME.
@homemade grits, it sounds like the 4 month thing happens to a lot of kids. i guess it's true what they say: the days are long but the years are short.
Kara says
Hey Parker! You seem too sweet. Thanks for caring about your mom and dad. Stay that way forever!
jenni says
i have some sleep advice for you! and it's not advice telling you to make parker cry it out, so no worries! i will email you…
Kate {motleymama.com} says
Please read all the sleep books and then teach me your wisdoms. I am sleepy.
PS: Waylon is giving Parker a virtual nod of approval.
bridget says
@jenni, yahoo! i will take it! send it on over!
@kate, parker is giving waylon a virtual high five.
Elizabeth says
Just when you get sleeping figured out, they turn four months, and then when they get it figured out again, they start teething. You will never sleep again.
Just kidding.
I'm bitter. I didn't get any sleep last night.
Kara says
dear parker,
does your shirt come in adult sizes? you have impecable taste – you're going to be such a heart breaker!
xx, kara

Hello- new to your blog. Spent I-don't-even-know-how-long (during my 2 month old son's nap last night) reading your posts! Parker is adorable. Beautiful family you have. Your love story could be a movie. Love it! Hope you get a nap today!

Hi, I've taken over my Mom's computer. I'm Zeke. My mommy puts me in my crib for naps now. I sleep with her at night still. I'm four months too. I've gone from 20 minute naps to 50 minutes and then some on occasion! She's happy. I'm happy. She just keeps putting me in there and I like it more and more. She dances me to sleep with Everybody Needs Love by Drive by Truckers. Gets me every time! Oh, and swaddling makes me feel cozy…i can't control my arms alot of times! Happy sleeping Parker!
Alivia says
Eeeee Hunt Hunt, I love your outfit. Too cute!
daniella says
Oh, Prker, you rebel-without-a-cause you. Go to sleep or else your momma will give you a nice little spankin'. Ok, probably not. But, it's good for you no matter how much you protest. You know you want to! Already like a man.

For some reason, while reading this post, I was totally reading it in a baby voice to myself. I tired to see if I could go back to a regular voice, but it wasn't happening. So, even though I've never met your little man, I have a very distinct voice matched to his face now, LOL.
Hope you get some sleep soon!

Dear Parker,
I used to try to pull the same capers at bedtime…my mom outsmarted me and bought a sound machine that knocks me out every time. Darn that lady. I'm figuring out other ways to keep her awake at night…sometimes, me and my sis decide to have an impromptu wild rumpus after we get tucked in.
Stay cool, kid!

the adorableness makes up for the lack of sleep. I'll definitely have to remind myself of that in 4 months or so:-) xoxo

HA! Letters from Parker should be a new feature…seriously 🙂

This book saved my life when my daughter was that age. It was pretty much my bible. She's now almost 3 and sleeps 12 hours at night and takes a 1.5 hour nap every day.

Lindsay Owen says
Dear Parker,
You are exactly like my two children, who are now much older (4 and 2) and sleep very well.
Tell your mum that months 4 to 7 are a bit of a nightmare with daytime sleeping but that eventually it works out, with lots of perseverance.
I like 'healthy sleep habits, happy child' by marc weisbluth (although you might have some crying ahead of you). i also found that getting my kids to go down at night awake helped A LOT. Once they learned to get to sleep themselves, they got much better at doing it at nap time, and during the night when they woke up.
And tell your mum that I feel her pain. The lack of time you get when your baby goes from sleeping lots in the day to not at all makes things very difficult. I hope she feels better and gets you napping soon!

I do remember this sort of thing happening with Levi around this age. Something about "four-month wakefullness" ? Heard of it? But man, oh man, is that Parker a cutie!
