what’s surprised me so far…
how many outfit changes I’d have due to spit up (or pee)
how legit postpartum hormones are… I was a wee bit (lie) weepy
how attached to him I am–I don’t really like him out of my sight
how hungry breastfeeding makes me (my sweet friend brought me quiche–I ate 8 pieces in 24 hours)
how I’ve done better with the lack of sleep then I thought I would (hope I don’t eat my words)
how I’d do just about anything to protect him
how I’m already feeling like he needs to slow down cause I’ll miss even being spit up on
how the pressure to capture every yawn or smile on camera can leave you stressed out
how sweaty babies can be
how dependent on you they are for anything and everything
how darn sweet they are–so much that you want to crawl inside yourself and just cry a little
So precious!! He's darling.
Oh so true. I feel like I am missing little things all the time that later I will look back on and think, why didn't I kiss that spot on her head a few more times. Congrats to you, he is beautiful.

as for the sleep, get it when you can, even if it means missing the chance to capture a smile or a yawn on camera. the deprivation will catch up.

I shoved EE in a too tight newborn onesie today because I wanted to reassure myself that he's not growing up too fast.
And sweat? Oh yeah. Mike's always telling me about Everett's sweaty back.

I don't have a little one yet but one thing that scares me is the lack of sleep, cause I love mine! Here's to hoping that I'll feel the same way about it that you do know. And to hoping that you don't eat your words. 🙂

The sweat only gets heavier as they grow chubby 🙂 The lack of sleep only gets easier to deal with. I'm on year two of never (like really, NOT EVER) sleeping through the night and I'm pretty used to it. A ten minute cat nap is a good quick fix. Enjoy this wonderful time!

I empathize on pretty all counts! I looove breastfeeding, it's so fascinating to by eating more than the hubby and still losing weight! But the best part is watching all those extra calories pile onto the babe in the form of adorable, kissable fat rolls and thinking to myself/my boobs, "wow, Girls, we did that!" I definitely feel you on the stress about picture taking because I want to capture it ALL and I can't. And then I have to put the camera away and remind myself that I need to LIVE these magical days more than I need to try to preserve them. It's tough, though, especially with such photogenic kids as we have! 😉
Miss being spit up on?
I think you'd have to go insane (like PPD) for that one to happen.
In my experience, I really enjoyed the newborn stage when my daughter was in it, but as she got older and easier and became the barrel of laughs that she is now at 2, I look back on the newborn period with fondness but also relief that it is over. It is unbelievably hard work being mama to a newborn!! So props to you for keeping it together – even taking the time to get some pictures and blog this special time in your life – whatever you can squeeze in is more than enough!

He is so precious! Hang in there, it gets SO MUCH EASIER!! I think the lack of sleep is the hardest!
