we have come to seriously love lake winnipesaukee like a second home. we’ve done boating, tubing, relaxing, sleeping, water-skiing, swimming, eating, and drinking all with the lake as our beautiful background. its sunsets, we’ve come to love, its loons we listen for, the cool water has been a respite from the hot sun for us… we’ve been visiting the lake every summer since we got hitched. and steve used to take the kids before i ever came along (he says it’s one of his favorite places on earth. i think i’d have to agree.). it’s the best. but this summer, it has to wait. our due date falls right in the middle of our usual two-week rental. and boating with a big belly isn’t much happening this summer. but, the lake remains, and it will continue to until we visit again. which we will. i envision a first birthday party celebration right on lake winnipesaukee. this little boy will know it and love it, just like his dad, mom, brothers, and sister do. oh, and gracie too.
Is it pathetic this post makes me want to cry? We have a two week rental up at Lake Tahoe the last week of July, first week of August every year and the one year I had to miss it was awful.
At least you have an amazing reason. That little boy of yours is going to have some amazing birthdays up at the lake.

HI there adorable pregnant lady! The same thing happen to me!! I was so sad about my due date falling smack dab in our week we vacation =( But you know how I made myself feel better?? I made a big baby/mommy purchase – I figured we were saving so much money by not being on vacation that it was acceptable. I bought a BOB double stroller. This is not for everybody, but is there something you've been eyeing that you couldn't justify buying bc it was too much money?? Well during that week, buy it!! Ha! Like I said you are saving money while not being on vacay 😉
It looks like everything you'd ever want in a vacation. But the good news is you can always go another summer! Plus, you've got a pretttttty good reason not to go this year 🙂

This makes me miss our family lake house at Shaver Lake. I think we need to plan a trip. It always seems so hard to get away from life and escape to a vacation!

Mike's favorite golf tournament fell on Everett's due date…he almost had me convinced that it would be okay if he played. I could just come with and his OB friend (also in the tournament) could deliver me if I went into labor.

Missing the lake will turn into just as good a memory as going. Your little guy will never stop hearing about how you went every year except the year he was born.

i can relate to how much you may miss your vacation this year. my family rents a house down the jersey shore every summer (since my youngest brother was a little baby, and now he's 16), and i can't imagine a summer without a week at the beach.
but i guess a new baby tops the vacation! 🙂
