i’ve never been much for new year’s resolutions. seriously, i can’t remember if i’ve ever kept one or, upon making it, seriously thought i was going to keep it. on that note, i’ve never really given things up for lent either. i don’t indulge heavily in one thing, besides maybe your blogs, so i suppose i never really knew what to give up. oooor i am just a selfish, non-disciplined person and knew i wouldn’t be able to keep one so i gave up before beginning (probably more like it). but, since i just admitted your blogs are one of my indulgence, maybe i could cut back on those. what?! wash your mouth out with soap, bridget! i shan’t!
basically, i would just like to be a better person, but that’s what we should all hope to be as each year flies by. complain less. love more. be more patient. take more time with the kids instead of shooing them away because i’ve got other things that can’t wait (laundry can wait. computer can wait.). take more time to tell my husband what i’m proud of him for. be grateful for at least five new things at the end of each and every day. learn to be more like gracie (dogs really are the best teachers, aren’t they?). compliment more. stress less. read more. eat well. listen to beautiful music. go to more concerts. make some delicious new recipes. write more snail-mail letters. be a better person.
what are your non-resolutions? or maybe you’re a real resolution-maker?

Those sounds great! I really want this year to be more about being happy with the little things. Happy New Year, sweetie

those non resolutions look good to me! i want that for myself as well. i was never much of a resolution maker either but this year, with the blog i think it will help me remember.

i try to set goals and stick to them. a lot of them are years in the making.
but i agree. i just want to be better. patient, loving, selfless… et cetera.
happy new year, lady.

I love these. I've never been a very good resolution-keeper so I'm making two simple ones. My serious one is to take calcium everyday. Stupid that I don't, really because Osteoperosis runs in my family & I've been told countless times to buckle down and take calcium. And, my fun one is to take more pictures!

I pretty much tell myself every year that "It's going to be a great year". It's not great all the time, but there are moments. I think all anyone can do is to strive to be their best selves, and hope that a 'great year' will come their way. Or to make your own 'great year'. I think that's my goal this year. Oh no, I just made a resolution! Maybe I should take it back or it won't come true?

I resolved to get a library card…I've been putting it off because of my library bitterness. I know my little town can't compete with the Boston Public Library, I know I will judge the size when I walk in, the sub-par book selection. Ahh!

I'm not big on resolutions either. I prefer to make a to-do list that doesn't have any quantitative values. So instead of setting unattainable expectations I just say I'm going to try and do things more.

I love your resolutions!
Have a lovely and blessed 2011!!

I actually don't make resolutions because I'm really lazy. Although I think they are a really good topic of conversations at dinner parties.

I made goals this year, not resolutions. One my goals is to pick up the phone more often. I feel like all I do is text or email. I want to get more personal with my friends and family this year.

First off I'm new to your blog and find it adorable, sweet and touching. I LOVE your heading.
As for new year's resolutions it seems that i know a lot of people who have stopped making them. I've always been someone to make them but rarely keep them, but to me it's sad not to make them. To me it's like giving up on dreaming. I want to BELIEVE that I will take vitamins everyday, and that flossing after every meal will seem routine and not oddly uncomfortable and awkward.
Good luck with your (non)resolutions, I'm routing for you!

My husband and I plan on running 500 miles each this year. That's our crazy resolution, although it's not that different from us going to the gym every few days like we do now. It will help us stay on track though. I think resolutions, if done at all, should be healthy ones.
Hope you and your family have a great year!

i'm aiming waaaaay low this year with "goals."
i want to be able to high five myself on december 31, when i've accomplished them.
read a book: once this year.
exercise: a handful of times.
cook at home: once a month.
it's going to be a great year.

i never really make resolutions, either. i probably should, but i don't. i guess i've just always thought it was a little silly? i don't know. anywaysss. honestly, i guess i would say my "resolution" this year is to trust more. god has some big plans for me this year and i really need to just trust in the fact that he has it all under control, and be REALLY grateful for the opportunities he sends my way… he doesn't have to, but he does. and it baffles me sometimes. so instead of trying to control my future, i just need to let it go and know that it's all taken care of, i just need to TRUST. π (which is so not easy for me. at all. but i'm trying!)

That sounds very much like my own resolution list!!! π I'm planning to post mine tomorrow though… I just cannot put it all together in my head quite yet π

i made a resolution. but i can't tell you what it is because i might still blog about it. wouldn't want to spoil the surprise for ya.
and for the record, i think i've adopted all your non-resolutions as well. so thanks for making that easy for me. your blog might get more traffic this year as i reference back to this post to remind myself how i was supposed to be improving.
(:

Those are fabulous non-resolutions! I just wrote a ton of snail mail letters today, and I was inspired to do so because I got lots of fun stationary. Maybe that will help you? I love your non resolutions and I need to remember to do those more often.

ooo…so I just visited January 2, 2010 and I'm back to ask whether you ever learned to meditate or make boeuf bourguignon.
Doesn't that just seem like an eternity ago? Don't this year's resolutions always seem impossible when you think about how you can't even remember what you said last year?
And don't you hate that now all your blog friends can look back and remind you of exactly what you resolved to do? π
Happy New Year Bridget!

this 'little resolutions list' of yours sounds lovely! I also have no list over here. just the goal to enjoy life as it comes and as much as I can π
