since i’ve lived in the boston area i’ve rarely taken advantage of what the city has to offer at christmas time. how foolish! so a few days ago we headed down for dinner, an ice skating show on the frog pond, and the tree lighting on the common. we ended up heading out before the tree lighting (it was cooooold), but it was a fun, spontaneous trip anyway. and dinner at the paramount is never a bad idea (i’m getting too predictable at this point. all my boston meals are taken at the paramount. bridge! what about the variety!).
ps. i’m sure a lot of you noticed that my post from friday was taken down. there was no drama behind my doing so (though, i’m sure some of you are side-eyeing that and thinking: but! there must have been!). there wasn’t, truly. but, as the day went on, i just couldn’t be absolutely certain that my good intentions and love would be heard loudest. it’s a shame… cause man! i loved that post. and, it’s possible that pieces of it will be posted again since, after all, it remains in my drafts folder where it began. but i thank you so much for your comments and emails. i said it on twitter but it’s worth repeating: i have the best readers. and while i started this blog with none, i sure am glad you guys are out there now. so thank you! even for the comments that questioned it being posted in the first place (since… ultimately, i ended up agreeing with you!).
and that’s it! hope you’re having a great saturday!

well, obviously i adore this post. Glad you went to the tree lighting and the frog pond ice skating show. I wish I'd thought of that!
And nothing wrong with loving on The Paramount. It's a favorite of mine, too. 🙂 If you want a rec for next time, I LOVE Figs and 75 Chestnut, too.
Happy December Bridget! 🙂

I've been fighting with the urge to have some hot cocoa all day, and that pic of your son sipping the foam off the top. . . pushed me over the edge!
Kimberly says
beautiful family! I have never been to Boston but its on my to do list.
Alex says
Woo! Mah hood! And can you believe I've never been to the tree lighting? What kind of a Bostonian am I? Three years. No tree. I'm a sad excuse of a resident.

Lovely family, and that first pic of Parker LOL! He does not look impressed! 🙂

Stina Gray says
Came quickly to your blog today to show my cousin about your natural remedies, specifically about your onion remedy for Parker's ear infection 🙂
But-Just want to tell you that I love your style, the way your whole family dresses actually is just so cute/nice, and the photos you take of your family and of Boston, and reading the things you write. Always fun, inspiring, and all that good stuff.
Cheers, woman!

dangit wished i'd read it before you took it down! but totally understand not feeling good about it.
cutest cutest family! looks chilly there!

It really was a great post – thanks for sharing. I understand your reasons for wanting to take it down, but as always, I appreciate your truth and honesty in parenting. It's refreshing in a world where everyone makes everything appear perfect in social media. Happy Christmas!

This looks (& sounds) like such a wonderful time. I'd love to see Boston at Christmas! I'm hoping to get up there in two weeks. And as for The Paramount, I completely agree. I know branching out and trying new places is good and all but I have to go every time I'm in town. It's impossible not to. It's just too delicious.
Chelsea Coleen says
can't take how cute y'all are. what kind of camera do you have bridget?!!
bridget says
@chelsea coleen, thanks! camera is canon rebel xs!
bonnie says
this is adorable, and the pictures remind me of the ones i would look at when ross was living in boston (going to berklee). so magical.
on a related note, steve (in this particular shot) looks surprisingly like peter krause from parenthood!
E says
You're so pretty.
Everett wants Parker's hat.
This post makes me feel all home-sicky.
Kristin says
LOVE the first picture! Adorable. I kind of want to be you.
Fun Fact: My uncle's father wrote that song! (Sleigh Ride) It's kind of our family anthem, so it was awesome to see you showing it some love! 🙂
Rebeka says
1. I love your lipstick color! So good!
2. Parker looks so much like Steve in these pictures, it's crazy!
3. I totally don't blame you for sticking to a restaurant you know you like (I do the same thing too – guilty).
Lottie Simm says
i wish i was good at ice skating but sadly i am not.
and william's hot chocolate looks so good.
bridget says
@kristin, that is SO COOL. that is my favorite christmas song!!
Taylor Merck says
Bridget, I'm so glad ya'll went! I admit to scanning the crowd after I saw your Instagram post, but sadly, no Hunt family sighting!
Just had dinner at Paramount last night (two blocks from my place = way too many trips there). It's the best place to go, I agree. So dependable and delicious. Brunch especially.
If you ever need a recommendation for other places in the area, just shoot me a note!
Here's one for a Steve/Bridget date night: Grotto in Beacon Hill. The BEST three-course dinner hands-down. Think: steak tips in cheese fondue for an appetizer, homemade chocolate lava cake AND homemade ice cream for dessert. I'm serious. It's divine.
bridget says
@taylor merck, i know! i totally wondered if we'd run into you!
paramount so close… that is dangerous.
and the grotto sounds amazing! if steve and i ever get a date again (ho hum) then i will definitely have that place in mind 🙂
