Happy Easter weekend!

What are you doing this weekend? We’re getting outside today–high in the upper 60s! Then watching Imitation Games which is finally on On Demand. Steve’s been dying to see it. And of course doing Easter things. Happy Easter!

easter eggs.

there are a lot of ways to do eggs (this being one of my very favorites that we tried to pull off two years ago) and, since the birth of pinterest, ye regular old lazy mother’s dye job (sooooo… basically this post) became about the least popular. i’d like to say i went the throwback route because i felt a real calling to it but… no, let’s just go with that. had nothing to do with the ease of the project.

i bought brown and white eggs (living on the edge!) and the variation is sort of fun. yes, fun is a very relative term. i gave you instructions up there because lord knows none of you have done eggs before ever. thank god you’re here today! your easter eggs would’ve been abysmal–that is, if you’d have been crazy enough to attempt them without directions.

The things I wish I bought in the aisles of Target but didn’t or else I’d be broke, volume 02.

Yes, it’s time for round two! Yee-haw and hippety-dippity! This one features Marianne and Denny, parkas and all. Look at her wave all don’t mind me! Just being pushed around Target, ain’t no thing! It’s so funny when they come visit. I’m like, “It’s 50! No jacket!” and they’re all wringing their hands, “Nowwww… whiiiich… parka… to… wear… todayyyyy.” No parkas were purchased at Target, however.

AFTER THE JUMP.

I can see some of you, yes you, pulling these off with a sundress. I can’t however because I’d be about eight feet tall and because I’d break an ankle. A veritable detriment to anyone else on the sidewalks that day.

It’s ombre! It’s yarn! It’s ombre yarn! Hashtag trend hashtag diy hashtag I don’t need it. But you, YOU DO. Seriously though, this one (and this whole aisle really–full of all that awesome Hand Made Modern shit) gave me pause. (I say that like every other aisle at Target doesn’t?) I stared at it for awhile, tapping my pointer finger on my lip, eyes scrunched. What to make, what to make, WHAT TO MAKE WITH OMBRE YARN. The possibilities are endless but then I realized that I know myself better than that and its possibilities would, in actuality, end once it entered the Hunt house and got tossed in the “craft bin.” I’m just not a DIY-er. However maybe you are both a DIY-er and a hipster in which case you must also get these Helvetica wooden letters. Does it get more hipster than that? (Yes. Painting the Helvetica letters with homemade paints colored with organic beets all while drinking coffee from your Chemex and listening to Sufjan.) Those letters though.

I don’t see this specific one on the site–just that black one hiding behind it. But anyway, it’s cooler than your average sound dock, right? Wood!

I could not be the girl that bought a pair of sweats every time she left the house. I could. not. do. it. Though! I thought about it. I was only successfully ripped from the toilsome decision making process by a text from my Dad that read, “Parker says he has to “P”.” Not sure why P needed quotes, capitalization, or the double ee dropped from it, but I fled the scene and got that boy to a potty anyhow.

Does this one even need a caption? Who doesn’t need (fine, want) pastel-y Easter-y prett-y things? And how about these? Bunny tea light holders. Damn you Target and all your cute things that hold with them the promise of warmth and flowers and spring and life outside of the four walls of my home. (Maybe I’m looking too much into this.) And I’m totally obsessed with these egg things even though I just know I will not, not even once, remove my eggs from the carton to put them in it instead. I’m just so reasonable it’s boring.

These are just cool, right? I got William a pair. They have a great dark gray color behind the light gray too. I knew one was coming home with me. Light vs. dark, I went with light. Bada bing bada boom.

It appears as though Parker found himself a booger in the Starbucks section of Target. And it was free too!

“Marianne! Hold my parka!”

“Denny, I can’t, don’t you see I’ve got the apples.”

And once again, what did I actually get? I actually can’t remember, that’s how forgettable it was. Let me see. Some sort of veggie-packed cookie so not a cookie at all, a sports bra, and a pair of workout pants. Oh yeah, Bridget’s getting back on the workout train! Still boring, just with a side of working out.

family in town.

i’ve been quiet on here… but for good reason! family has been in town and goodness has it been nice. we’ve sat and drunk coffee, we’ve had lots of cousin-bonding time (see above!), we’ve gone out for burgers and beers, we’ve gone to barre classes together, watched movies, had dance parties, we’ve celebrated birthdays (lindsey is THIRTEEN), walked in town, dreamt up travel plans, and we’ve doted on the sweet new addition to the family–anders! parker has requested mame and foot rubs at bed time every night (and this is after, over the last few months, i’ve tried to give him foot rubs only to be told to “do it like mame does!”). and there’s something really wonderful about your parents and your kids having a special relationship… especially when those parents don’t live nearby. it seems that now we’re just picking up right where we left off, and i like it that way.

Have a good weekend!

This was a really stressful week for various reasons. At one point, I threw in the towel for the day and made peanut butter cookies. Parker called himself Tom Brady and cowboy boots were football boots. Whatever makes ya happy, buddy.

I was just sent some Susan Posnick stuff and these are my favorite. (Especially the smoky rose. Easy application, perfect color combination.)

a note on this dress: it fits like a dream, will not wrinkle in your suitcase, and has the perfect tiny slit in the back and at the end of the sleeves. it it seriously the perfect little black dress. them brass ladies done good. now steve???? take this lady out on a date!

loon mountain.

it may already officially be spring, but us hunts just went away for our first ski weekend of the season. when in new england! we took off friday for the mountain club after steve finished class and drove to loon mountain. we visited loon last year too and it was such fun. a change of scenery could not be more welcome at this point in the winter (spring? technically). i made a big pot of chili on friday night to bring up with us. we arrived around 8:30 at night and as soon as we got to our room, i turned on the burner and had it going with sour cream and cheese and tortilla chips on the side. perfect.

parker had his first ski lesson. i was much more nervous than he was (full-blown hover-mom) but he did so great. his ski instructor, amy, was such a sweetheart. she was high-fiving him and making him feel so comfortable. the lesson was so cute, watching all these tiny kids giving skiing a try (parker, at 3 1/2 was not the youngest by any chance. some of these new englanders start their kids young!). meanwhile, william, lindsey, and steve got their ski gear ready to take off for the day. (thanks to william for grabbing this picture of them on the chairlift!)

after a day of skiing was had by most (me and anders–and parker, once his lesson was over–kicked it at the hotel!), we had dinner at the hotel right by the fire. not first before we ran into friends, missed the ski-gear return time, and had a really kind employee open the rental place so steve and the kids could get their stuff returned (since we’re sometimes–always–a traveling band of hooligans who can’t keep our heads on straight, we so appreciate those sorts of things that help us manage our chaos.). there’s something so cozy about the after skiing portion of skiing (said like a true non-skiier). everyone’s tired and wind-blown and just wants some yummy food, drink, and warmth. the next morning, we woke up and went to the pool before taking off for a bagel shop for breakfast and getting back on the road.

Have a good weekend!

Google says it’s the first day of Spring but my it’s 20 degrees here this morning. Mmmmkay.

The 2015 summit on The Boyfriend Jean was really eye-opening. Apparently there are articles dedicated to Gap and Old Navy jeans being not-so-great? I had no idea. (Here’s a funny one called Gap and Old Navy Make Mom Jeans.) Still, the people are split. Some of you suggested the Old Navy skinny boyfriend (which look really nice but don’t really look like boyfriend jeans at all, right?). Others suggested the Gap “girlfriend.” These may fit the bill (boyfriend in the front, still fitted in the back). Still others suggested Abercrombie. Abercrombie execs reading my blog, here’s my two cents: Provide gas masks upon entering and I will consider venturing in to try your jeans on. Anyway, as always, thank you for your input. Crowd-sourcing is basically why I blog.

anders, 3 months: parker started covering anders (gently!) with stuffed animals and it was hilarious so naturally i ran to get the camera.

parker, 3.5 years: his favorite iPad apps these days are Leo’s Pad, Starfall Numbers, and Toca House. your favorites?

lindsey, 12 years: this week william was being a pill to her and, while i was putting parker to bed, she came up to find me and have me yell at him telling me, “william is being such an I-D-I-O-T!” (i have asked them to not use words like that around parker cause he picks up everything they say), so she spelled it instead. we couldn’t help but look at each other laugh. it was so funny.
