I can’t believe we’ve been at this Hunt extravaganza for six years now. It’s such a fun tradition and one of our only ones we hold really fast to, and we love it. Although this year it changed a bit–the place we usually go for breakfast burnt down. Can you believe that?! Hopefully it’ll be up and running again in the future. Their bagels are amazing!
weekend links.
Added a little Christmas spirit to the boys’ room. Parker and I decorated the tree (from Trader Joe’s) with little balls (from Target) and there she sits, the little tree that could. This weekend we’re going to get our big tree and we’re so excited.
Here’s some weekend reading…
lately.
it’s been ages since my last lately post and i have a ton of pictures and things we’ve done that are just sitting on my phone or in my iphoto so… it’s time! i am a blogger, after all. the above is a day we took into boston a few weeks ago. it was columbus day, so my friend and i had a playdate so we could get all the kids together–since school’s begun, parker and one of his closest friends don’t see each other like they used to!
a birthday party for anders.
Anders turns 2 on the 7th, but since my parents were in town for Thanksgiving, we decided to throw him a party a bit early. We had a Pooh party for a boy who loves Pooh and who’s third word–just after Mama and Dada–was Pooh! My sister and her family came and the boys jumped in the bouncy house at back, while we got lasagna and salad ready and sipped wine. There was so much love in the house for this little boy. The day was perfect.
Christmas checklist.
Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, I feel like there’s this mad dash to do all of the Christmas things. Once it’s December 26th, the Christmas things just make me glum (do you feel the same way? Like listening to Jingle Bells once the day has passed is just such a bummer?), so I have just under a month to shove all the jolly and merry into our days.
thankful.
it’s thanksgiving week. what better week than this one to proclaim all that i’m thankful for.
The things I wish I bought in the aisles of Target but didn’t or else I’d be broke, volume 08.
Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, list in hand… in the Target bathroom. (Parker’s in the stall behind me. His bladder generally alerts him of its need to be emptied when we are directly opposite the bathrooms.)
It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Target or done a Target post. What’s up with that? It’s clear that Christmas has arrived at Target and it’s pretty wonderful, as one would expect. Best holiday + best store = nirvana.

Making: last night I chopped up brussels sprouts really fine and sautéed them with butter and salt and they were like as good as french fries to me. yes, I said it! I kept going on and on about them and Parker finally tried them and, with a smirk on his face, admitted they were delicious.
Drinking: coffee? water? wine? I’m so boring in this category. I don’t stray much from my old stand-bys.
Reading: a reader recommended Julia Child’s My Life in France; enjoying it so much. It’s perfect for moody fall weather. (thank you for any of your reccs in the comments; I’ve found so many things I love through the comment section of my blog!)
Wanting: this stunning wrap coat — in every color.
Listening: a new(er) Paul Simon: Cool Papa Bell. it’s so fun. virtually nothing brings me back to my childhood faster than his voice. he makes me immediately want to transport myself to sea isle with all my cousins and doing the electric slide to You Can Call Me Al.
Playing: chase/hide-and-go-seek with the boys; I do this creepy voice and chase them and they live for it (even if they’re totally freaked out at the same time)
Wishing: this winter is dotted with warm days here and there; I can handle it then!
Loving: Giada’s lentil soup; so easy and delicious and you don’t have to start it hours in advance.
Watching: The Crown; episode 2 and we’re really liking it. This sort of show is right up Steve’s alley too. the actress that plays Elizabeth is sooo good.
wellness this winter.
This post was going to be an attempt at some simple things to do at home with zero equipment (like that butt workout we do in barre (below photo!) that is killer) but then as soon as I was down on the ground, over comes Mr. Anders with his concrete truck to join me and I couldn’t bare to keep him away. Mimicking me the way he was? It was very cute. So, family “exercise” time! Quotes necessary.
